Drider Warlord
Profile
Gleaming faintly in the darkness of the mine, the Drider Warlord is no larger than the other drider scouts that you have seen but somehow its presence is far more menacing. Heavy links of chain woven into a thick protective garment form an almost impenetrable defense against typical blades. The Drider Warlord is virtually silent though, as only the soft whispering stretch of a bowstring reveals its location in the dark.
Attacks and abilities
The Drider Warlord is a tough adversary who attacks with a Venomous Bow, poisoning and attacking up to four targets at once, and with a fast recovery rate. Its mithril armour prevents all mêlée attacks from breaking through, forcing you to rely only on ranged attacks to hit his unprotected upper-half. It also has some resistance to non-magical weapons, limiting the selection of weapons even further.
Strategy
Rangers with magical bows are the best crits to take on the Drider Warlord, backed up by Clerics, obviously. Druids and Mages can contribute with their magical attacks, but they do not harm him as much as Rangers do and the mana use is excessive; to minimise this, use weaker spells like Blast - this is also one of the few places where the use of Jolt is justified, as Nature's Fury uses too much mana and Stormwrath does not work. Black and Silver Crossbows could be used for Thieves, but as these are non-magical weapons, their impact is minimal at best.
To deal with the high damage, it is recommended to place your Clerics evenly between your attackers; your own rate of attack is reduced slightly as a consequence, but the impact of the Drider Warlord's arrow shots are greatly reduced because your heal spells are more spread out.
