I don't know, but a long time, whenever I load nightmist it seems to misread my resolution. My resolution is usually 1024x768, but even when I change resolutions it reads my resolution about one setting lower, and it's REALLY annoying!
Here, look at these screenshots. (Click the links)

Anyway, today I changed my resolution to 800x600 and guess what:
an annoying error message pops up that says:
"Your computer is set to a resolution of 640X480, please increase it to at least 800x600 in the display control panel for optimal game playing."
How stupid!
There any way I can fix this? It doesn't seem to happen with any of my other programs. . .

Client Resolution Problem

/reserve Command?
28 February 2006 - 04:07 AM
The Reason Why
Well, I train a lot and want to get as much as possible from my spells (especially consecrated embrace), so I find myself trying to always saving one stamina in my party leader so I can move around, just in case I kill all the monsters on the square and end up having to move, but am stuck with no stamina for 10 secs of valuable consecrated embrace time.
However, I find that sometimes, I forget to save it, and end up wasting the valuable time anyway.
A Solution?
I'm suggesting that you might add a /reverse command.
The syntax would be
/reserve [number]
Reserving it would make it so that you can no longer use that stamina. So if you had 5/5 stamina and reserved two, you could use three of them, but when a player attempts to use a fourth a message would appear, saying something to the effect of:
Doing that would exhaust your reserved strength.
Rapid firing, assassinating, berserking, or smiting probably would automatically cancel the reserve (as should any two-stamina taking things, like, I believe, the pacifists create food spell?).
To unreserve a stamina, you'd simply
/reserve 0
Client
As far as the client would go, you might have to make it so that the bar would only show the fraction of itself relative to the unreserved stamina.
Also, you might want to make it so that clicking the stamina bar would toggle the reserve of the stamina.
Benefits
I think that this might positively affect the strategy of many of the players. You know, one might keep a stamina in reverse just in the case that a stamina would be needed to perform an emergency invisibility or something like that.
Also, it would make some things a little bit easier for some of the players.
Drawbacks
Well, firstly it could promote the lazy attitude of the Nightmist players in general, but to me it seems Nightmist has taken that path already (and maybe even reached the end, and it's great fun!)
Secondly, I can see that this would make it so players could get away from pkers more easily and this could frustrate some people, but on the other hand, overjoy the escapers.
Thirdly, it would take a relatively sizely amount of code, but with these new staff (which I think are doing a great job, all things considered!), it leaves the experienced coders to code, so this might be something they could do.
Anyway, thanks for reading!

Basic Statness
25 June 2005 - 06:51 PM
Well, I get stuck helping noobies alot, and after half an hour I find out that they have HORRIBLE stats and usually end up rolling them a decent character.
Also, back in the day when I was a noob, I ended up getting:
a level 21 ranger with 15 strength
a level 23 fighter with 12 cons
and an assorted amount of other horrible crits.
My solution to noobie bad stat syndrome:
A new option in the "new character" screen would have a "basic stats" button. If you click this then you get a pre-defined set of stats.
Human: 17 17 17 17 17 17
Dwarf: 19 16 16 19 16 15
Elf: 16 19 17 16 18 19
Gnome: 15 19 18 16 17 16
Halfling: 16 17 19 16 16 17
Half-Elf: 16 18 17 17 17 18
Half-Orc: 20 13 14 20 12 13.
These stats aren't very good, but yet it's not detrimental if you waste your time leveling up one of these.
Also, these characters are decent for getting the hang of the game..
Just a simple thought.

Covert Limit
22 June 2005 - 02:02 PM
I think there should be a limit on how many crits can be covert in a square at a time. Say... three.
I mean, these huge thief parties running around are just INSANE. It's not realistic at all and it's REALLY ANNOYING for umm... me, and I'm sure other people.
Either that or disallowing the usage of macros while you are covert would improve everything.

Attack Pictures
16 June 2005 - 01:41 AM
I think it would be kind of neat to have alternate pictures for some of the NPCs and the character portraits to have an "attack picture" that is displayed for two seconds or so after the npc/player attacks you.
Or maybe if it's impossible with NM1 it could be implemented in NM2.
Just an idea...
