i saw u close the clan thing on ownage.. and thats fine and probably deserved.. then i looked at u closing that guys suggestion.. with the chinese stars n sheit lol.. as dum as it may be, you had no reason to close it imo.. there was plenty to discuss there and he would have had a chance to refine his thoughts if you hadnt closed it.

well, im just checkin up on ya.. just in case you are on the wrong track. I mean, youve been mod for like 2 or 3 days and youve already closed 2-3 topics. Next time you close somethin, think of whether its disruptive or against the rules, not just your personal opinion of its validity.

I don't intend to be an authoritative dictator, but I felt that the thread was being left open for negative comments.

Awe how cute, Crane, you got people calling you a cawk just like I did when I first was staff. Just ignore them, they are just mad someone is actually ACTIVE on the forum to enforce the rules.

naw, you misunderstand me. I know crane, hes great. Just I didnt think he should have closed that post with the nub tryin to add a class suggestion lol. Sure it was dum, sure he was gonna get flamed more than likely.. but hes entitled to his suggestions just as crazy as they might be. People critisized galileo for his physics ideas, but turns out he was on the right track. so.. let em dream :P

edit: typo

It is hard to get the balance right sometimes... leave it open for suggestions, or close it. The first 'bad' suggestion I came across I left open for suggestions after posting my comment, but it was closed anyway by Stotic.

^Don't do it.^

Treat him like you would anybody else. He's not a different person. He's still Crane. He just has the ability to moderate this forum.

If your opinion of him changes becuse of this, then your opinion doesn't matter.

P.S. Shut up because these forums are not even bad. Hardly any of you even go to real forums. You have no idea what would make this forum better or worse, and your decisions would probably make it worse. To be honest, I don't think Crane really knows either. There are no good mods on these forums except Deval, which may not even be a mod anymore. I haven't checked in a while. No offense Crane, I just don't think being a forum moderator based on contributions to the game (not even staff members) is a wise decision. It doesn't make for effective moderating.

I personally recommended Crane for a forum mod as I feel he is one of the best people out there for the job.

People will never agree with some decisions made, like the rest of us he'll be making decisions in the best interest of the game.

I'm sure he is very capable of handling the pressure :P

Do we really need a new forum moderator though to take away our free speech? Staff ingame would be better...

I'm intrigued as to what makes a good forum moderator?

Well I'd have imagined the ability to read and a bit of common sense are the only real qualities required . . .

You've got the bare minimum there Jimmy.

As alone said, a sense of humor is a must. Not just any old sense of humor, though. It has to be an internet savvy sense of humor. Also, actively participating in a large forum is a ++++++. Just going to these (small) forums doesn't let you experience any actual moderating. A lok here, a shake of a finger here, nothing really goes on. If the Nightmist forums want a real, able moderator, they probably won't be able to find a person that has the right stuff. It's hard to explain. It's better when seen in action.

I think I understand what you mean now thankyou ^_^ . . . however it's impossible to please everyone . . .

Deval Im a fan of because his humor I find extremely funny at times however to some Im sure he would be offensive (as he has been known to go a little too far in the past) . . .

Crane on the other hand seems to be very bland with his posts and serious . . . he does seem to be quite intelligent though and Im sure as long as he doesn't become a total Nazi on the forums he'll do a fine job as long as hes given the chance . . .

Edit: Spelling Cranes name right :P

How can you misspell "Crane"?

I apologise if I am not the joker-type like Deval, but no two people are alike. I guess my own sense of humour tends to be quite dry.

I concratulate Crane on his modyness and I agree he will be a great help to the forums, he is on alot (atleast when I am, which is alot) and I'm sure he wishes only the best for the game. Nope, I'm not trying to get on his good side, don't say I'm a brown noser, I'm just telling it like I see it. When I say Pandi rocks, there, my friend, is brown nosing.

Personally i'm happy to see a new forum moderator, i've been a bit confused as to why no more have been hired actually (what harm can they do, if the right people are chosen).

Crane seems to be experienced on the forum judging by his post count, and looks like he reads all of the sections.

If he helps to clear out the rubbish and highlight the good stuff then i'm happy he's here.

Heh, post count is not always an accurate indictor, but I try to make every one of my posts at least contribute to the topic in question, whether it be a single sentence or something that rivals one of Charon's posts!
