Out of nowhere jen logs on s gate starts sayin she talkin to jimmy (Swift) tellin him he cant have the clan named . sayin it not a name its punctuation. My opinion is that its his freedom to have a clan named anything he wants long it not offensive it doesnt mess up the game at all or anything.

Whats ur opinion?

Should it be allowed or not?

Yes is for it should and no is for it shouldnt.

Edit: A certain staff member paged me and told me that the clan doesn't really fit into a role playing game . . . so ok then if we're going to go by that rule does that mean that anyone with a name thats not roleplayish has to change their crit names too?

Roleplaying within this as I've seen is completely optional and if anyone has a problem with my clan name then don't do /who on my crits

Since Nightmist is a so called "roleplay game", why even think of having it called ".". Be creative and imaginative with clan names, they are the main feature of nightmist, thus they should be more played out in a role rather than just being a group of people out to PK and get gold. I hate stupid names in clans, and i hate stupid names period. People should invent names, experiment with words to create fantasy names like "Zelimos, Semantain, Xlithan, Saicratis, Marw". All these names i have were invented by myself (except Marw as it's welsh for death, but still a fantasy sounding name). A clan named "." would only look stupid in clan descriptions. Be creative. And remember, this is a poll, you gave me the right to state my opinion and should refrain from trying to flame my for my opinion. Otherwise you wouldn't have made this, right?

my opinion is its just a clan name wuts the sens in trying to "outlaw" it if ur gonna say he cant have that clan name then go through all the clans and see which 1's dont go with the "role playing" form of nm aka pick out the clans ur jealous of cuz u dont own that clan. ya dont like my opinion o well thats wut i think. i think jens just jealous that she aint got that clan name or shes just pissed at swift and wants to find a way to get back at em

I don't think it should be accepted, unless you can pronounce . it is not a name for anything.

and theres the very first definition of name, now does . fit under that category? no but if you can find a language where . is an acceptable name for something then let it be a name but until then it should not be so

But, alot of the players are terrified by the fact that people so attempt, and sometimes do roleplay..

I often hear something along the lines of "Amy was roleplaying at SGH again! WHOA!" and stuff, usually followed by some, rather rude and uncalled for words.

ok so lets look at this from a Fantasy Role playing prospective . . .

It's not like Im naming myself my crits or any of my sons "."

It's a guild, a club, a clan . . . a "." in my opinion could quite easily be a name for a product or a club or a guild or whatever . . . Theres a perfum called Exclamation or "!" that can be pronounced . . .

however if were forced to change our clan name we'll just call it . . . dot or period or abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz . . . or perhaps think up a "Gangsta"ish name to fit in with the majority of other clans in the game lol

" . " is a symbol for a clan name. Kinda like a family seal or crest. Same sort of thing.

If you want a Crest or Seal, draw a picture.

You see all the good clan names like:

Do'h!! Nuts!! Mmm...Donuts

Pop Teens

were already taken which made us mad so instead of using the more agressive and offensive "!" we used the more smart assed and laid back "."

End of the day though mine yours or even Jens opinions don't even matter . . . If JLH or Pandilex has a problem with the clan name then it will be changed . . . end of story

Yeah, after you 'Name' your clan, you can submit a 'Logo' to JLH to be posted on the site under your clan 'Name'.

And, really, this isn't for us (players) to decide - it's for JLH/Pan to decide where to draw the line; or even, the staff that was handy at the time (Zephie).

All this is is a big drama over a CLAN NAME FOR GOD SAKES! just let them go they are not harming anything i dont see what the point of making them change it is.

This game, though meant to be an RP, is not one. Maybe we should be like a certain other game I know of that reduces exp when phrases such as WTF and LMAO and OMG are used. Hell they even reduce xp if you forget the punctuation in "don't".... Nightmist wont ever be a good RPG unless an RP environment is enforced. And if that happened well... half of the people here wouldn't play.

Square descriptions mean squat. Storylines mean squat. Character lookovers mean squat. Character names mean squat. Why can't clan names mean squat as well?
