Was gonna put this in off topic discussion but thought i might get more of a response from the computer guru's in here. I know u can put passwords in excel and stuff to prevent ppl accessing it but how do I encrypt a directory on my computer, wot program should i use ?

depends what windows you are running. with windows 2000/xp you can encrypt any folder using the built in NTFS encryption. only people with administrator access or yourself can access the contents.

then you can't really, since anyone could technically use a win98 boot disk/cd to read anything on the hard drive

cant ya activate the password in the bios setting's to system setting, thus stopping anyone from gaining that access?

as it asks for the password before allowing the pc to load the autoexec and before allowing ya into the bios.

then encrypt ya files so that when connected to the web, ppl cant 'browse' as easily.

other ppl use the computer also so thats not an option ......... I put the stuff on disk no drama's ty anyway.
