No, not in the slightest.

Just because a mage touches something, doesn't mean it's suddenly magically embued with powers (even if the mage is part of the Council).

Not that I know for a fact, my guess would be the Dagger of Spirits was more of a symbol than a weapon - an object that would represent something very important to mages. It was only after it was stolen that the dagger began to be used as a tool of war.

Edit: Can someone tell me the definition of "athame"? My dictionaries don't seem to have it.

athame is a knife used in magical rituals. Like if I was to hold a Ritual to my goddess I would use the athame to cut the herbs i would burn. But the Athame itself is not magical in the least.


I dont have an actual dictionary meaning for it, i just know because it is a part of my religion. That is what we call the ritual Knife.

There's a difference between wielding something in battle and wielding it for ritual rites.
