names in this game have increasingly became more rediculous. infact, i was just talking about it today. names like txt, mana_holder x 56, dildo... i mean yeah, there were some idiotic names a couple years ago, but as i understood it numbers were taken ut of names to make it less like a chat client and more realistic. personally, when i was a newb, i didnt see such people as 'horny' running around *dont get me wrong, love you di*. the name situation just plainly has gotten out of hand

The issue is not your opinion on if a name is stupid or not. The topic is saying that sum people get away with names far worse than other people names.

Creativity is one thing that alot of the new players in the game are lacking. When I started I had some odd names, 7UpMan was one of the oddest and Hitler was one that I caught the most hell about (I still say that I like the name and the evilness that the name holds. I do not agree with what the man who held that name did nor do I go along with his actions. I just like how the name carrys one of the most evilest reps to date).
The lack of creativity has kinda gotten outta hand lately with names like Her_Nipples running around.
I remember a long time back when I was in the sewers and saw a guy with the name Dildo. I was just about to pk him when he vanished and it said "Dildo has been banned".
I say to those who have these odd names, take your time when creating and new character and choose your name carefully. There are many sites on the net that give you help for coming up with names for role playing characters. And just because most of NM is not role playing does not mean that you have to use these odd names. Be creative and make your character stand out other than being an obsenity.

we like to think that the players will be able to choose decent names, however Pandilex has often thought about making it so that all names have to be approved by staff before being allowed to be played. however this would be a bit annoying for staff, and is something we shouldn't have to do.

Honest to goodness, if a person cannot pick out a name that staff would approve on their own, ban them for a good enough time to suggest they should learn how to....

For staff to need to oversee name making is ridiculous.

Just because the roller doesn't check what words you type in doesn't mean it's allowed - if you notice it and complain, or if staff notice it, then any crit with an unsuitable name will be banned.

Least that's how i understand it to work
