i was just under the impression that the new server was a chance for a fresh start. Maybe i was wrong considering the older players are buying what they want in most cases on nm1a by trading items/gold/characters on main server to get what they need/want.

i just personally want that type of trading to be stopped so that the newer players have a chance to get ahead, and the older players do not have that "push start" that they do currently.

just think thats something thats a slight problem in the nm1a economy, flame on!

Even without such trading, veterans will always have a head start because they know how the classes work, where the training areas are and where to get the best items. Beginners have to ask around and explore a lot more in order to achieve the best for their characters, although this has been nullified a bit with standard shop-bought items for your character's level being in the same city as the matching guild.

yea your right, we'll allways have that sort of head start, but that is something that comes with experience, which cannot be helped

i just think that some are just buying there way into nm1a and not having to work to get up in this new world, they simply find someone that still wants items/gold from other server and buys what they want on the new server, so whats the point of ever having the new server reset if people are going to still be rich from the old one?

What is more annoying is players simply being given everything one of their friends owns.
I find that just as bad as buying things with real cash or with things from the other server.

It is how we get players who run around insulting other players just to cause drama because they think they're some brilliant gamer.
Well, both situations are very frustrating, but nothing can be tracked well enough in the NM system...at least not without tedious log checking by JLH, and that's not reasonable.

We don't really have a way to prevent players from gaining without putting in, and there are just too many different ways for players to go about swapping what they own.

i'd just like to see that staffers arent overseeing these server to server trades, atleast then they'd be less likely to do the trade, considering they could be jacked of their stuff, and couldn't cry to staff about it

I don't believe we have been overseeing the trades, but I don't really see it as somethin I'd be entirely un-willing to do.
In my opinion, theft is theft, staff supported or not.
I'd probably just look to long-term ban the thief and allow the stolen goods to be banned as well---rather than returning them.

exactly

If you want to do a between-server trade, get a trusted player on one of the servers to hold one persons items while the others are transferred, then give the player the items he is holding. Like people used to do before /trade came in.

best way to trade between server is split stuff in the middle...if you're buying a crit/item for 100k, give the person 50k first, then when they give you the crit/item, give them the other 50k... that way if you end up getting screwed over on a trade, at least you've cut your loss in half.
