Ive noticed a disturbing trend that has frown to epidemic proportions:
ADJECTIVES FOR NAMES?!?!
How stupid can you get?!
"Hi, my names Bob"
"Hi, im Indecisive."
Do you see what i mean? Just plain dumb. :)
I dont know which came first, adjectives for crit names, or adjectives for clan names... But one things for sure, this is just pathetic.
"Hi, Im Pwent of The Chosen" Sounds acceptable right? Now lets try this...
"Hi, Im Explosively_Carnivorous of (hmm lets use an actual clan name here) Broken" ........ Ok but those aren't really a names are they?
Now i understand people are just trying to be creative or something, but when i look at my screen and its says "Sneaky went East." or "Delicate cast a spell on herself." I wonder WHAT these people are thinking. Its not a name. Its an adjective, a word used to describe something. If you want to describe how sneaky or delicate you are do it in your profile.
Just think of it this way, you (or your wife, or girlfriend depending on how stupid you are) have a kid. The doctor asks "What will you name him/her?" and you look at the doctor, and say "Nostalgic!"
Stop being stupid, people.
Stupid people hate me. Something about constantly proving them wrong I guess.

You forget one thing: Creating a proper name is part of RP'ing; a near extinct concept in Nightmist. I'm not going to say it's not there...because it is...just not in the numbers it should be.

Ummk, since when is "Pwent" a name?

I will admit I have a few "Non-Proper" names such as "Empathy, Shrooms, Faux, Trippy" but I also have "Sera, Charity and Kyrie".

I believe you should just chill out about what people name thier crits. It is their choice, not yours. A lot of the good names are taken already anway. :)

In a world where Burger_Cleric, Sausage_Cleric, and Halfling_Paladin (good examples off the top of my head, no offense!) are allowed, I'd be less concerned with names such as Indecisive and Sneaky. I'd first concentrate on ridiculous names such as that. I'd rather own an adjective name than one of those :)

Jeeze... don't hate on my crit's name. Personally I like using adjectives for names. Have you ever just sat in any random spot and just watched people go by with their funny names? I love to do that. I recommend you do it too, it'll put you into a better mood Mr. Cranky Pants. :)

i gave him away, and he's probably deleted, but seriously, you got to spice things up sometimes. i made the hamburgler, and he stole your hamburgers. some names are just plain stupid, and some stupid names are fun, but it's just a name. hell, dognapot? it's a dog in a pot. that's retarded.

edit: just realized that pwent wasn't a thrice bastardized rendition of "owned". even though i know that ownd, pwned, pwnd, etc. are making me stupid because they're degenerating my preconcieved instincts in interpreting written communication, i can't help but feel that seeing unintentional arrivals to 1337 have the same effect. like you're still at rome no matter what road you took.

wouldn't it be funny if rich had registered this name first, and you were bickering with him?

I have to agree with the being creative part a little. I mean its the person rolling that crit choice to name it whatever. But how about try and show some creativity before you hit next to get to rolling. Think about it a min or perhaps 5. Choose a name that you can put something into besides exp.

Hmmm....
my main, Gaddy is my last name...so that's a gooden.

then there are umm..
Lancaster (original crit, it's just a name that came with it, people have informed me of towns named Lancaster nearly all around the globe though)
Tequila (noun)
Dangerous (adj)
Gad (verb)
Prankster (adj, noun)
Newb (adj that owns you all)
Image (noun)
Cervix (...lol, noun)
Everlast (that's a good name..apperently a payless shoe brand..or people told me so a proper noun kind of)
Prism (umm...noun :) )
Effort (-shrug-..and i get As in english
Mercury (planet so i guess a proper noun)

Also currently level 1s holding names are-
Stadius - newb gave him to me to put on current Gaddy til i felt like name swapping and sold old gaddy, now Maximus...that was dumb of me :-\

Degraded -just one i thought up some night when i got fked up and noticed how much i suck at this game now

Stasis - Cris gave it to me, one of Archie's old clerics, will probably name swap Spyro with him when Randy is done getting Spyro to master, cause spyro is a gay name and Stasis is the shiznit (I believe it means "balance" in Latin)

I think my adjective names are probably the best of them, I would never give up the names Newb (unless newb really really wanted it and paid me for name change to a good name) or Dangerous or Prankster (i bought them all for a good enough bit too)

I personally love the name Gad because it is my favorite word..for those that don't know what the verb means do a /who on any of my crits...To wander about seeking amusement ;-p i know you're all lazy asses...

Image, Cervix, Prism, and Tequila could be changed for all I care, there are many things I would like more.....just can't get them or think of them :S

Lancaster, Effort, and Mercury all go back to my old school stuff..Mercury just my old druid back when the hit and runs first came about with Devout messing with everyone lol...Effort was my first cleric..back around this time last year i bought him...Lancaster is the original, back all the way to when i pretty much first started (anyone else notice he's still only master..and..ya..wow.)

I guess for my part, i just like names that either look cool, or have a kinda cool meaning or relevance...here's some of my favourites :)

Vigilante - definitely cool
Stiletto - great thief name
Mayhem - i have this saved, haven't decided on a crit for it yet, zerker seems good

Other names i've got that i like - Dilemma, Fractal, Protest, Quantum, Tomahawk, Apache

I'm sure there must be others, but i'm at uni and can't check my accounts :)

As for my most stupid name - FlowerArranger :) "His feet are protected by Flippers" - on an arch! thief...

Awwww that's so cute! You know I never think of Finding Nemo whenever I call someone Mr. Cranky Pants but I have a strong feeling from now on I'm going to lol... speaking of Cranky Pants and crit names... it's not yet taken... mwahahahaha!

Ok no... I don't like long names for crits. Too bad.

As Bean has already said - it's just a name.

I wanted some good names for my crits, but because of the large volume of crits (over 20000), a lot of the good names have already been taken. People choose names to describe their character, to sound cool, interesting, or even in honour of someone or something:

For example... Crane... some people think my Paladin's name is unusual, and they would do if they thought I named it after a piece of machinery you find at building sites, but it is also an oriental bird, and White Crane Kung Fu is a martial art I am very fond of and practice very regularly, so I have honoured my style of Kung Fu! My cleric, Complement, as in to make complete - well, no army would be complete without a cleric. Coulomb, my mage... the coulomb is the unit of electric charge, so it ties in well with the shock spell. I have a few odd ones out, like Imogen, Europa and Kimitra - but I have personal reasons for choosing them.

Do not worry too much about crits' names - as they say, do not judge a book by its cover.

EDIT: Fixed grammar mistake.

first off cool link squee.

secondly... i have a friend named apple. And guess what the name desiree comes from... desire, my fathers middle name means ominous... the meaning of these names are not nouns (except apple... but his parents are hippies).

my point being, im sure if you read a tolkien novel, and you found out what some of the elves names meant, they would not all be nouns. names do not have to be nouns (well technicly a name is a noun... but you know what i mean), they can be based on anything. occupation (common for last names), physical characteristics, (what do you think goliath means), or even a damn fruit!
