I believe we should have gambling on these event's. Base it upon what a group of people believe is a certain players ability to duel, strength of their character's, and whatever else you think would work. I'm not sure how the odds would work but base it on craps, one person picks, and someone has to call against em. I'm not sure how you would monitor it but it's worth a shot.

I gamble on things like this with friends...we don't need it to be made as an actual command or anything.

yup, and in that case we WOULD need a command.

'/gamble Squiggle' to bet on the person. All the money would be collected into a database, and the cash is then shared out to the winners.

If the winnings turns out odd, it should be shared out to each players gets an equal ammount, then the gold left over is just deleted or saved for another session

so you're saying that if your mates bet against you, they got a better chance of winning because you would die delibrately?. no.. you're 1 out of 24 in the triplex. no possible way that it would be fixed so a certain person won. and if it was, the prize would be less, seeing as it would have to be shared out amongst more people :)

I'd just like to point out that your poll doesn't really fit this thread. It's asking if people would like to gamble, given odds and other stats.

You're suggesting that a system be put in to make it (more) possible. Subtle difference, I know but a difference none-the-less.

Gambling = Fun.

In relevance to NM = Something fun to do.

(Just sitting in the tavern, drinkin' that good ole' ale, and gambling on weekly events.)

I wouldn't gamble, but that's only because I don't play anymore. I like the idea though.

Your votes are meaningless. You're not asking them if they want a system, you're asking them if they like to gamble. It's different.

A problem that I see in making something like this work is that it would be abused. Say that many bet on odds on someone like.. heck, my character Amy of winning the mosh. Do a /who Amy, am obviously not a strong character nor would I be in a mosh type setting. It could be misused and made to where people leave the mosh, lose on purpose, etc, just in order to win a bet. It would not be based solely on ability, on what character hit stronger, used pots better, etc. Why would someone care if they lost the mosh, if they knew they had bet a bundle on another advesary within the mosh and would win if they actually lost. Make sense?

I think that this is something that would be better left out of Nightmist. If people want to make personal bets among friends, or otherwise gamble (there is always the gambling halls in many different cities).. then go for it, betting on events based on ability and skill, will only lead to more problems later on down the road.

And we should not forget that JLH has a Lottery on his to-do list :)

I reckon that's a pretty good idea. Like if a crit has the worst stats ever, and is lvl one, but won the triplex, you get heaps of gold.

But level 1's cant join the triplex.........

And as for gambling, yeah it would definately be abused. People can easily set up a winner in order to gain more gold........

And who would work out the odds for each crit?

ok....first off make the entrance fee for entering triplex.this will give ppl and added encentive for winning, and not just throwing it.. this would rid many noobs who enter(hoick j/k friend) from wasting there gold to go and mess up ppl's changes...the better the players in the better the competition the better the gambling :). I would gladly volunteer to run the gambling exept i cant gurantee my chances of being logged on.also i would control the amounts of betting. 1st couple of rounds betting is lower because more ppl in(say 5-20k a round) , 2nd round bets increase by 5-10k and so on till 3rd. also i think if u bet on 1st round u still till last(dissconnect/have to log wont be held against you)anyways i would love to see it up and running

I like the Idea, it would provide excitement and suspense for those unable or who didn't page fast enough to get it. Therefore they have a reason to watch and listen to the matches

If you were forced to bet on the winner and could no longer bet after round one then I don't see how it could be abused, unless you got all other 23 ppl to exit on purpose. However, for normal moshes it could be abused. So Proficieny & TripleX would be good as not easy to abuse. Not to hard to program aswell :)

Odds for each crit based on level/stats/race/class- I mean, who would expect a Gnome Mage to win? That would have high payoff. But something, say, Dwarf Cleric, would pay low. Sounds a bit like we'd all be watching horse races :)

Once inside the profiency arena, players shouldn't be able to page or memo to outside players. If this were put into affect ...anything that goes on in the outside "world" would be unknown. You could set it up like the !Jungle near the time mage and such. I thought it was pretty gay of staff to ignore an idea that has a 35 to 7 edge. If anyone else can find a flaw e-mail Urmomisgay@yahoo.com, j/k....e-mail coreylairdjam@aol.com. Like I said I wanted this to happen, but I've been done with the game for ages. Good luck with your social lives lil kids and hope ur life is half as great as mine. Peace...
