How does roleplaying work? thats all i need to no.

I cannot call myself an expert at roleplaying, but here is my attempt at explaining it...

Roleplaying is like an interactive story, where you play the role of one or more characters, taking on the voice, actions and characteristics of them and showing it in the text you write.

There are rules regarding how much you can govern the actions of characters controlled by other people and the events around you. A few times I have been caught "God-modding". Try reading some of the past roleplaying topics... A Real Vampire Roleplay and Ranthak's Horde are quite good examples, despite my God-modding in the former (I was less experienced then).

Now, I'm sure that the more experienced roleplayers could explain that better than I did. Oh... and try not to post "out-of-character" on this board, like I have just now!

I remember when I first role-played, oh how much god-modding I did, at the time I guessed it was copying something from another, say we were fighting and I used famous RPG attacks, like, say I'd cast Firaga and stuff, oh I was such a noob, flame pls.
