Perhaps we could give some (or maybe all) squares a "size" attribute. (a number, 1-100, 1 being the size of a closet, 100 being the size of, say, a large, open field.)
This would affect the stamina recharge yimr of certain classes and certain other things.

Of course, rangers would be the fastest on larger squares, since they shoot their arrows across the square and don't need melee attacking.

Mages and Paci's (they only attack when they do magic) would be next, because, of course, they hurl magic from afar.
Then would be druids, for they use their magic to navigate through all terrain and can summon storms from afar.
Then berserkers, for they don't wear anything and can furiously dash at their opponent.
Then paladins, for various reasons.
1. They "can ride horses into battle", according to part of the medium lance destription

The Medium Lance is a long reach weapon. The handle of this weapon is about 12 feet long, made of fine wood. The tip is made out of iron. Paladins prefer this weapon, because it enables them ride a horse into battle.

Next fighters, for though they are the most heavily armored, they are the most used to carrying heavy loads and therefore can run as fast.
Next Clerics.
Next Thieves.

Then, in smaller rooms stuff could happen too.
Mages, rangers, pacis would have slower stam recharge yimr, because it takes toom to cast spells or pull back a bowstring.
Thieves would have more difficult time of coverting.
Everything would have more of a chance of hitting, not like there's room to miss.
Berserk would do less damage, because there is not very much room to swing something back really far.

Most squares in a town would be about 50. Open places like the grassy meadow would be 70 or 80. A path through a forest would be 45 or so. Just a forest would be around 30. Crazy petes would be 20-25. Indoor places (the barracks, Harabec dunegeons) would be 40 or so.
The spider tunnels would be very small, 25 or so.

The mosh arena would be

30 40 50 40 30
40 50 60 50 40
50 60 70 60 50
40 50 60 50 40
30 40 50 40 30

The cube would be

25 35 25
35 45 35 for the top and bottom levels.
25 35 25

45 55 45
55 65 55 for the middle level.
45 55 45

Too much alteration for this stage of the game. It's just not Nightmist. Maybe the admins would take interest in the general ideas for NM2. Nice ideas though ^_^

I'll be honest, I love the idea, but it can't for NM1. Way too much to be sorted out.
I've seen more meds in my left nostril than you've seen in your life.

Poker in-game.

Ok, maybe for NM2 then... Too bad nightmist isn't an LPC mud.
