Hey, me again. I admit that the bureaucracy on this game probably means that such changes will never be implemented, but I would like to suggest some picture changes (for both servers) to remove a few NO-PICs and to improve the quality a little bit. Some items/NPCs will need new pictures entirely to better suit their description, but there's nothing wrong with some placeholder art, is there?

Do you mean you prefer the Emerald Dagger's current picture? I'm a bit confused because I think its current picture was once used for the Dagger of the Winds.

And yes, I prefer the modified Dungeon Guard suggestion, although I have to hope JLH will upload it.

I was saying I do not like your suggested picture for the Emerald Dagger. I played when Windia was opened and, to the best of my knowledge, the current Emerald Dagger picture has never been used for DotW. As it sits now, it is a nice picture. But I do not like the look of the green Dagger of the Winds that you put up for the suggested picture.

Although most of these aren't seen much on the 1alt server (I think). If you can put down the commands I can run them through the server one by one.

As for emerald dagger, I don't like the current pic all that much either. I still got these knives/daggers laying around if you're looking for a substitute:

Unless I'm mistaken, the only suggestions listed that are exclusive to the multi-alt server are: Platinum Coin, Speckled Band and Drotar.


To change a monster's picture, the command is: /monsterstat Blackguard:12:3364, for example. 12 is the field ID for the monster's picture.

To change an item's picture, the command is: /itemstat Platinum Coin:1:1208, for example. 1 is the field ID for the item's picture.


They shouldn't be too hard to modify for each monster or item in turn. Be aware that your staff character may not have access to some commands.

Your daggers are nice, but don't really fit the description of the Emerald Dagger, which is why I suggested changing its current picture and also why I suggested a change for the Waldren's rather silly portrait.

By the way, I have a lot of new art myself, like a better Dungeon Guard and Platinum Coin picture, but I am not sure how best to send it in. Most of what I've suggested is on the Art for Gold topic.

I think %$ is the staff-only feature to chain commands together, and I'm hoping these combinations aren't so long that they'll cause a packet drop.


ADDENDUM: You will likely have to destroy and re-create the spawned monsters in-game for the new picture to take place, or use a command that does it for you.

I'm glad I was talking to Scripto and spotted Crane's abnormally high armour count when that was implemented on the multi-alt server...

/itemstat Speckled Band:1:1711... while stat 1 is the picture for items, it is the armour count for equipment! Fixed now though. And for weapons like the Emerald Dagger, stat 1 is the base damage! My fault; sorry about that.

Mountain Ranger, Emerald Dagger and Waldren have not been changed, pending further discussion. For now though, thank you Scripto.

I don't think the 1-alt chain of commands are affected by this, as I left out multi-alt only stuff and the dagger.


Oh, and I would like to pose a little challenge to others... select a picture for the Mountain Ranger! The one I selected, 1250, isn't liked by Scripto because of the magic energy ball in his hand, which is fair enough. To post the picture on here, the image base address is http://www.nightmist.co.uk/nmpics/, followed by the picture number and .jpg.

Thanks again to Scripto for implementing the pictures. It might take a server restart for all of the changes to take effect, but we can wait for that.

Thanks Sausage! I still try to contribute for some reason, a little bit every so often in the hope it gets into the game, and it's satisfying if something gets past the bureaucracy and is accepted.

Three questions remain though:

- Should the Emerald Dagger picture be changed?
- Should the Waldren picture be changed?
- What picture would suit the Mountain Ranger?

So far, this is my list of suggestions (other than 1250).

Something like this would be perfect, athough one would have to resize it and change it a bit to meet JLH's criteria.

I think the pix of Waldren is classic and any change would not be an improvement.

As for the mountain ranger, something on the lines of....

Slightly tattered clothes, with a rough bearded look, as well as a hint of craze in his eyes should do fine for him, if you can capture that look in your drawing.

My "No." on the ED picture change was for Crane's posted "green dotw" pic. I would definitely be in favor of a sexy pic like one of those tho. Or perhaps maybe something not quite so glamorous but with the same shine.

Well, to speak on the artists behalf(current and previous, they are limited to pixel count, so something like I posted is probably a bit more extravagant than what they have ability to do. And to make original artwork takes alot of time and effort, so what we have is very much appreciated.

That withstanding though, everything(but Waldren) imo, can and should always be looked into to be made better. I would volunteer, but all you would get is stick figures or less.
