I've said this before, but feel the need to say it again....
Dispell should do exactly that, remove all spells, including all cleric spells..
Maybe a percentage of succeeding up to say 90% chance at arch, and a mana cost appropiate to the mana used by the cleric or other spell you're removing, (without knowing it of course), but mages should have this ability.
You can un-hypnotise crits, and make them sober, and .......
this would even up the cleric vs mage situation, as at the moment a mage cannot come close to out spelling a cleric in a 1 vs 1 or team vs team.
Not sure if Devastate makes the difference as havnt had the $$ to test it out yet, maybe by the time JLH has finished Nm2 I might have the gold.
So how about it?
It's been a while since this topic came up, so any new reasons for and against giving mages the ability to remove cleric spells off crits with dispell?
Apart from the obvious of making it fair.......
Dispell

I can round clerics with devastate, yes.
Now, back to the topic.
I completely agree-- but for it not to be overpowered, Dispell should only remove one spell or effect at a time. It shouldn't be able to remove EVERY spell as well-- or if it does, the cost should be relative to what it's removing.
Spells like Enhance, Righteous Fury, Aura of Protection, Stoneform, Thornshield, Any Cleric armor spells, paladin stat-boosting spells...etc. should all be removable. Now, I don't know about Dispell forcing a druid to unmorph.
Why don't we get a staff comment to see if the spell's cost could vary according to the spell it removed?

Yup that's the way it should be,
Cost of mana that righteous fury cast by cleric on the crit targeted is the cost of mana that the mage uses to remove it.
However if thats to complicated to implement into the game programming wise, then a percentage chance of removing any single spell, random choice, at a preset cost of mana.
The percentage chance would increase with each level the mage gained.
Which if implicated into the game would allow mages a more interesting role in evening out the games structure.
Staff comment would be invaluable in something like this, and also the veiwpoints of ppl that use a Cleric as a main.
Un-morphing a druid would have to be affected too, as that's effectively 'cast' on self to morph?
