Ok, there's at least 5-6 clerics that I know of lvl 30+ that have needed tokens to lvl for AGES now. But no-one bothers to lvl, myself included.

Why is this?
What can be done about it?
In fact, does anything need to be done?
How could clerics be made better on 1a?

Answers please!

Why is this?

HP/MP really isn't important for a cleric, as they are only used briefly for PvM, or a vision/hance etc. The only incentive to train them beyond 30 would be the extra stamina, which isn't all that important seeing as they can heal a party just fine with 5. Also, to get that 6th stamina, they'd have to get up to 630m xp, and fork over probably around 700k+ for tokens. Neither of which would be any fun.

What can be done about it?

Nothing.

In fact, does anything need to be done?

Not really.

How could clerics be made better on 1a?

Give them mass exp for healing people, that way people might actually play them as mains. Or give back the healing bonus. Just give them something to make players want to play them. Unfortunately, nobody wants to play a support character, they all want to either pk or get monster kills.

Answers please!

I'd say give them like 30 pod for healing people, unrelated, but give paladins 35 or 40 aswell ;p

Gold making isn't too great on a cleric unless you can get a big party to go to zuem/dungeons. So it's usually a choice of training or making gold. Of course for a nice profit you can use reg mana, but then you have to run and forth much more often..

I'd guess if healing people were more exp, people would be more inclined to heal people more than train, thus being able to make more gold for lvling and actually make the hardest of areas able to be done on a regular basis. Instead of monthly lol

I feel the problem is mainly to do with paying to lvl up. I don't find them a huge problem to train...although it is true that the gold is really shabby...and therefore how do I afford to lvl up??

Anyone else agree?

I would suggest that a Cleric gets higher EXP points for healing when in a party.

A fun way to be able to level up higher (after 30) instead of needing certain items and gold, why not have that cleric complete a difficult quest all alone. If the cleric completes the quest, it is able to level up to the next level.
An example would be like entering a dungeon style arena with difficult monsters after defeating monsters without dying, you complete the quest and level up.

Just an idea to throw out there

Maybe another undead area could be made or something, because all the training spots nearby are pretty small and patrolled by pk's regularly. . .

As far as gold goes, just use regular mana and they make pretty darn good gold. Or get your clan to come with you to 2nd floor and drop a load of mana for you. If someone were to play a cleric exclusively, clericing bosses is a shot at a boss drop to sell too. . .

Really I don't think the gold making of clerics is the issue, it's just that when people invest all the gold to level beyond 30, they'd rather do it for their main character and nobody plays clerics as mains.

Also, there used to be a lot more people who played healers before they nuked them by taking away the healing bonus. Myself included. That was discouraging enough to make me change mains, as well as everyone else.

I think if another cleric area were to be put in, especially for leveling up past 30. How about a neat change of pace.. They have to actually fight with their weapon. So relatively low HP monsters that hit hard enough to make it a struggle to keep yourself alive.

Just something to throw around, I guess. Afterall, you're trying to prove you're one of the greatest Clerics around, so surely you'd need to be able to stand your own.

EDIT: Obviously if there already is an area like this, ignore me. Been a while since I played...

its crazy to say a cleric does not make good gold, in fact a cleric is one of the fastest gold makers in game, believe it or not lol

and clerics still level fairly easily i mean at 90 damage 3 times each round (assuming your using ce and holy might like i do when training clerics) you are doing 270+ dmg each round which is 270* say 50 cause i dont remember pod on anything atm lol thats 13500 exp per round, which is great exp for a lvl 18 imo

and by lvl 29 it goes even higher making arround 18k average each round (still using ce/holy might)

and the training grounds isnt really a problem, i mean personally i would luv to see the paladin area upon up to clerics, but if your worried baout pkers just go to second floor in rax, i mean not many ppl ingame are going to go threw all the ktp to get to you

I have a cleric ready for 32.

Tokens are not that difficult to get. The boss doesn't even heal.

It takes a little more time than Gristle, sure. But as most people like to go to Gristle with 7+ thieves, it takes around the same to get a cleric token. The problem is really, getting them on the clerics, or finding people with decent clerics. People complain, but who here has tried to make a run?

I've done the run, in fact infedel isn't even hard, just takes a long time because clerics hit for crap amounts of damage. I used to hope the old cinder stave would have a hidden bonus on the infedel, nope its just a useless weapon. Anyways infedel isn't that hard, 5 lvl 30 clerics could do it and i know there that many around because I trained two clerics to lvl 31
