Basically, computer shut down, no longer will turn on. When I try and turn it on nothing comes up on the screen and it just makes a beeping noise.

No, wasn't looking at too much porn. Joe. :)

But yeah. If its a virus, it has only affected my computer, as the network is still running perfectly fine.

Anyone else ever had something like this / would care to help me?

hardware failure, not a virus since it doesn't even get to the loading stage
take it to a local pc shop for diagnosis

Sounds like a faulty ram module.

If the computer won't turn on then its not the ram.. and computer will turn on if there is not ram but it just won't do anythiogn from there...

My dad has a similar problem a while ago, his computer wouldn't turn on so I opened it up and started playing in side..tryed now power pack, along with a few other random things, battery for mother board etc.. When I couldn't figure it out with changing randomly little things I said screw it threw evreything back in and closed it up.. no soon I plugged it back in and was going to take it to the repair shop it randomly turned on... then I walked back toward it.. and it turnned back off.. then back on.. all by its self...

Started thinkin about it and grabbed an old power switch from an old computer and put that in the place of the one that was in there.. works perfect now...

So if it don't turn on my guess is its power pack or power switch..

actually when your ram module is bad the computer will turn on, but nothing will come up on the screen and it will make an obnoxious beeping noise. Thats pretty much what he described. Im not saying thats whats wrong, im just sayin that it matches whatever the symptoms he described.

o0o I had that on my pc recently. Spoke with an IT friend of mine who told me to go get a new power supply. Thought he was nuts cos it clearly couldn't "beep" without power. Well apparently it can. A new power supply and a half hour with a power tool (it was too big) and it works like new! (Cept for the frikking pop up and tool bar I now have on it that my son got somewhere that I can't remove)
Why is it you can sue a cigarette company for cancer, McDonalds for getting fat, but you cant sue Smirnoff for all the ugly people youve slept with?!

I had a computer that was doing that.

I took out the graphics card and blew some dust off the contacts (it got there how?) and put it back in.

Worked for a couple of weeks then it started doing teh same thing and I can't fix it lol. Still got 2 more computers though so gg ezpkkkkkkkkkkkk

it is what jlh said it is hardware failure but try and removing each card ieg vid ram sound whatever and reconect them somthing may have came loose and make sure that the fan on the cpu is on and if u have 2 or more ram modules take one out and test each one by itself if you still have the beeping then if u have no clue on what you are doing then take it to a pc repair place just as jlh said
