Bouldar is a upright community that has long been home to many exiled parties, who for one reason or another fled their native land and established a residence in this progressive community. There is an undeclared method of tolerance and unity that most within the city’s walls abide by; However, the eastern part of the village includes what is referred to as the slums, and habitants often defy laws and wreak havoc among the otherwise righteous society. The western part of the civilization on the contrary, consists of very ornate architecture, and is even home to Mayor Tunstall’s estate. Just as the communities structure’s clash in design, the towns people are made up of many diverse origin. The town’s administration consists of Mayor Tunstall and his panel of five councilmen. The panel, consisting of the Bishop of the Catholic Church and his clergyman advisor, along with a representation from the guards, the Head of Commissions, and the Chief Magistrate, have a range of different roles to carry out. The councilmen also play a major role in providing community leadership. They enable the citizens to help themselves and offer a vital connection between the local authority and the community which they serve. Although Bouldar’s official civic religion is recognized as Catholicism, countless residents worship a number of different divinities. This is greatly accredited to the tolerance of the community and the manner in which immigrants are accepted by the citizens. Because of this, Bouldar is said to be one of the most diverse worship grounds in all the lands. Shrines fill the town in the forms of small monuments, lavish alters, and concealed prayer chambers. In fact, the only reason many citizens know which god the shrines even honor is due to the fact many of the towns roads are identified in accordance to the most acknowledged shrine in the particular area. Numerous sacred shrines are also said to be found beneath the town in the Forbidden Caverns, where those who dwell in the darkest chambers worship unknown gods. The nature of these gods and the locations of their shrines and temples are a complete mystery to most of the townspeople. Undeniably, many would prefer it that way. The dark tales of evil practice that come from the wretched place result in most citizens steering clear of the once holy Catholic Temple. Here, in the now corrupted temple lies the only entrance to the caverns, and it holds the Artifice Artifact, that boasts near omnipotent supremacy when wielded by the wrong foe. The power of the artifact however, is limited to the use of zealous followers of Decidia, an evil goddess. Other than several exiled renegade priests and the rest of their faction within the Forbidden Caverns there are unknown communities or monasteries that worship the evil deity.

Delphian Temple:
Centuries ago this granite temple was devoted to Aroha, a compassionate Goddess of Matrimony, Accordance, and Medicine. The temple’s commune was captivated by the Katrina Springs and often accredit its enchanted stream to their living there, as it was declared a sacred site of Aroha. Bouldar locals quickly came to rely on this brotherhood to accommodate for their wounds and illnesses. The priests and priestesses gallantly came to the aid of the town, despite their pacifism beliefs, and in doing so the town prospered immensely. With the town flourishing, and with the citizens spiritually refined it would seem the Delphian brotherhood would continue to advance; However the opposite occurred several decades ago when a clan of renegade priests sought asylum in Bouldar. The sympathetic, and unfortunately inattentive townspeople granted residency to the priests without hesitation. Regrettably, the priests, who were supposedly escaping condemnation of their homeland, were actually worshippers of Analyse, a vile goddess of Perjury, Hypocrisy, and Deceit. Through the eyes of the goddess they worshipped, they learned the art of trickery and betrayal, and thus were able to infiltrate the Delphian Temple with ease. The treacherous priests possessed the Apocryphal Artifact, a diabolic artifact symbolizing deception created by no other than Analyse herself. The uncanny powers of the artifact allowed the renegade priests to rapidly infiltrate and overtake the temple, slaying all members of the brotherhood in the process. Shortly after the conquest of the temple, they extended their sites to the city. With Mayor Tunstall and his councilmen unaware of the happenings at the temple, the renegades set out to blind the town leaders with their Machiavellian like practice. With sly tongues and phony dispositions they unleashed their malicious craft upon the councilmen. The town was falling into the hands of the renegades and if not for a timely intervention by Mayor Tunstall, along with several powerful allies, the renegades probably would have been able to over take the city. With their evil scheme no longer possible the renegades retreated to the deep caverns below the city.

Forbidden Caverns:

It is rumored that deep beneath the town, and the Delphian Temple, lies a labyrinth of passage ways consisting of dark chambers, evil powers and bloodthirsty beasts. The evil followers of Analyse retreated into the caverns after losing the battle for the city. The renegades still dwell deep within the passages, plotting a return to the power they once held. They are aware of the fact they cant obtain this power without the Apocryphal Artifact, which luckily for the townspeople, is locked away above the serpents and is being heavily guarded. The bad news concerning the hellish artifact is that there is no known way to destroy it. Even worse, anybody willing to speak of the artifact presents few clues about the matter. Those brave enough to enter the cursed temple are risking not only their sanity, but their lives as well; Thus, the mayor holds the only key to the structure. Below the temple lies a great vaulted chamber built centuries before the temple itself. It was once a Delphian belief that all prayers made in the temple were delivered directly to the ears of the according deity. Now with the presence of Analyse heavy on the temple it is believed that she intercepts all prayers recited in this once sacred room and answers them in ever so devious manners. With her presence so evident, anyone who would try to use the prayer room for anything more than a passage to the Forbidden Caverns would be a fool.

Cavern Entrance:

The only known entrance to the Forbidden Caverns, is a large reinforced iron door added only after the renegades dissent below the temple. After the epic battle, it became the only entrance to the old caverns in working condition. Because of this, the cursed temple has become a fascinating opportunity to explore the hellish depths of the hellish caverns. Whether the men enter the caverns with their eyes set on personal wealth or with the noble approach to save the city from future devastation doesn’t change the fact that many a man who entered the said caverns were never be seen again. Although some have been able to return home with valuable riches, none have ever been able to solve the mystery of the Apocryphal Artifact.

1) Name: Bouldar(as in bolder colorado)

2) Story: Above

3) Restrictions: No restrictions.

4) Contents: Briefly explained above.

5) Draw: The area would be 'wanted' (obviously not) because of the vast amount of new, and revamped monsters. The area would include vampire bats, two newly created bats, pained spirits, elven barrow wrights, giving clerics a new area to train in(considering there are 4?). In addition to this, there are a few chances at "shiney" items, and also i would assume the exp of the albino "dessert" mobs would be worth while as well.

6) Writing samples: Merr

7) Maps: Not going to design, or post a map as its likely(with fair warning from someone who should be considered for area developement) that this wont even be considered.

Areas are typically evaluated on four dimensions:

1) Style: I would like to think im more of an orangutan with a desktop, than a gorilla with a laptop. Stylish enough, perhaps not.

2) Balance: Seems fair to me. Especially considering i didnt post any drop idea's ect.

3) Excitement: Im sure if we had players, they would want to use this area. Perhaps a few implications of new areas/quests and people would consider playing more?

3) Need: It is 'needed' for clerics, and also would be wanted by other classes for obvious reasons.

Figured not using the guidelines had to be the reason nobody bothered looking at the post. But then again, it could be because the playerbase is still at a decline :P.

I still think this is pretty legit for as rough as it is. In my original idea i envisioned the bat cave being similar to the hedge maze and the Death Bat dropping an equivalent of the barons bracelet.

Continuing through the passages you would encounter monsters similar to the ones found in the dessert, and then find yet another "area" with undead monsters.

Finally you will reach the 5 renegade priests. If you can kill them, there would be a chest to the north (or w/e) that dropped the Artifice Artifact, and it would be traded to mayor tunstall for the boss drop.

I agree with matt that it is kind of rough, but.... bump nonetheless :P.

area names need reworked. a very, very large ammount of punctuation, and some spelling errors. some sentences seem choppy, more then a few run on sentences, descriptions seem overly short in some instances. barrow wights give too much gold/exp for how easy they are and probably shouldnt be included, names and descriptions fo monsters need work and probably dont need so many different types as being 1 area. area should be based off of itself and shouldnt have portions based on possible future developement as normally the developement doesnt occur. a few drops can come from different portions in an area, though keep in mind that anything not coming from the main boss should be well toned down. probably ned to remoe the town as most towns in game already are uneeded/unused.

storyline is pretty good. works on decsriptions, slim down the ammount of different monsters, possibly cut down the size of the area as it seems as of now fairly larger then need be. put some more effort into it and it could be a pretty good proposition.

First off, thanks for the input. As for the names and punctuation, i completely agree. Not gonna lie. I saw something about caves on the discovery channel and thought it would be cool to have an intricate design for a fairly large cave area(which i threw together basically). And to comment on the names, i had alot of ________ before i posted it on the forum.

Cave pool:
You are standing in a pool of water formed by the waters of the ___ stream and the ___ ocean. The ocean water mixing with the fresh water dances with the light your torch illuminates. The water, which is as clear as an orb of glass, is lit just enough to see the swarms of piranha awaiting to feast upon you. You may continue ____.

Lastly i was thinking of this area ever were to be implemented, that it could be added on the other side of silversail's ocean. Wouldnt mind if it went a little further and used an idea Alan suggested about a storyline using buttons similar to the trip to kunal.

if you really want a reaction out of staff you might as well work out details like how much damage mobs will do, the frequency of attack, what kind of armor, their hp.. a map of the area should be started and exactly like an idea of how many squares its gonna be that way the staffer knows what kind of work they've got ahead of them :P

ps, obviously dont post map here

Nah.. would have been willing to put a lot of hours into it with even a glimmer of hope that it might be put in game.. would still be willing too, but I just didn't see the point without even the slightest feedback from staff... Also I think it would still be bad Ass to have a storyline based boat trip from silversail to bouldar with buttons...
