I think I did...93 damage to a Black Bear with my level 30 elf mage (21 Intellegence). This was a long time ago. This might have changed.

You summon a beam of pure light, blinding a Bunny for 97 points of damage, Killing it.

That is with 22 int. You must remember when using an Elf in the forest they get an extra damage bonus.

JLH I hope you read this.

You said that at arch mages can ALMOST hit 100 damage, and have 5 stam. You have to include the many fizzles and resist to. Now, I have a zerker that can zerk for 80-90 at lvl 22 with a pike. If I got a halberd on him I could zerk for 100 10 levels lower than. Can you still say that mages are NOT underpowered?

But zerkers are a completely different class.
Can zerkers invis?
Can they cast a spell to increase their stam regain?
Can they give themselves extra armor?
Zerkers also end up killing themselves, where as a Mage won't.

Zerks can't kill themselves. Once they reach 1hp they can no longer use their abilities.

Also a bunny has no wisdom, zerks can hit 100+ on 100ac. The only think zerks need is 5 stamina I think. Then fighters would be original again.

Yet mages are underpowerd, I agree.

mages are VERY underpowered

and zerkers should either lose 1 stam or lose 5 points of dmg or something

the mages is underpowered in some ways
takes alot of mana to do spells, low hps, semi-agile, fizzles

they should be able to summon "thunder" which work as "smite" but only when it rains outside of towns (excluding undergrounds) :)

We don't need more 1 click abilities. However, mages damage needs to be upped slightly. The easiest way of doing this is to make +1 intelligence affect damage signifcantly, say 5 damage extra on max damage.

Mages also need a lower mana cost of spells, maybe make haste regain all 5 stamina. Just don't make then any easier to train, but atleast help them reap the rewards at level 30.

mages are almost not worth training because of the time it takes to get so little out of them. they need an overhaul quick like maybe a race that maxes its intel should get a plus 5 bonus because of the research required to be a mage
I am very sorry, if not for something I did, then it is for something I will do.

Almost any 4-stated, dwaven berserker can one click a gnomish mage. If not, they can survive the first round of beams and just berserk to finish it off.

I love my mage because it lets me run around invisible and it is very hard to get to the place i train without any invis...can still do it..but..it's not fun...

Other than invis....I've got no use for my mage, it is master, it will never be arched...not because i don't like it or anything, they just really are that useless. You use them to invis...other than that there isn't much to do with them...really a class shouldn't be quite that useless..even if it's one use is a good one.

Then again, i own no zerkers whatsoever, gave away my last one (expert 4 stat dwarf)...i dislike them that much. They're overpowered when spelled and all..but i just hate using them. 0 ac is annoying when i boss a lot, as is hurting the crit while attacking. Soloing bosses that I do would be practically impossible with the ammount of crits i take to them...then again...i haven't been on one of my boss trips in a good while now...i should start that nuts up again..kept the game entertaining.

1. zerkers dont need to invis, they click just about everything
2. they dont need a spell to increase their stamina regen, they already get the 4th for free

i see people beaming bunny's for 90's. nothing big. go to desert and start beaming away. my fighters can hit 80's on spiders spelled up. mages cant get spelled up, mages have to attack solely by their own powers.

maybe they should make it so as you lvl every 5 lvls or more you get a extra intell point...that would make the mage hit alot harder wouldn't it?

lol last time i checked mages were 1 man wrecking crews...first off aop gives it 100+ armor+ and other equip it may have, 2nd it does do 70-90's and there are no half damage beam's(ive never seen one), 3rd when they do get into trouble invis gets them outta granted one zerk would own em...but 1 on 1 i'd put a mage against anything cept pally and druid and i think it would win(crystals allowed of course :) )
