I do waste my macro keys F1-F4 for movement (N, S, W, E). I just wondering why they can't macroed for arrow keys? I think it would be more useful than waste all 4 F-keys for movement. I dont know how many older ppls really press e.g. 'n' and 'enter' when they want to move fast. They are using macros.

Hmm. Now it seems that I missed something. Can you explain how to use more macros? I have movements for F1-F4, F5-F12 for spells etc. There is no more. I can create different sets, but for F1-F12 keys. Okay I dont undestand this. :)

I use different macro sets for different modes of play.. If I'm going to be sat talking, I use the first set, with /clan loc /friend and such.. Second third and fourth sets for other various tasks.

I do still agree however, I'd love the arrow keys to work.

That can get annoying if you're typing tho, if you wanna go back you press left.. you move west. They fixed this in rev by making it not move if you have something typed in the box, but then you have to clear it to move.

Why the hey do you need to macro directions. How hard is it to type "[s] [enter]".
Anyway, when talking to people I often have typos, I don't like to have typos. It makes me look stupid and noobish. Well, maybe I am stupid an noobish, but I don't like to type like it.

Quoth mine alt from game "[clan] Man: Hey, can I hate temporary leadership?"

Backspacing is annoying, I like to use the arrow keys to get to the right place and edit it.

Thank you very much,

Mecrenary of Q.

Yep. You still need keys for movements and that keys are off from normal macros F1-F12 (if you are using macros for movement). Yes, arrow keys would be good for movements. :)

To Mec:

It is too slow to type 's' and then hit Enter.

With a macro you can move fast by pressing one key...

...But what if I make a typo and want to go back to edit it. I don't want to continuously run into a wall in the west while I try to fix a mistake. o_o;

For those of you who arent too savy with a keyboard do none of you notice two (2) sets of arrow keys on your keyboard? Now I know most of you are saying that the other set are number keys and they dont work. Try turning off the Number Lock and then hit the 2 4 6 and 8. Check that out, it works the same as the other arrow keys. So why not set up the normal non-number arrow keys for movement (along with pageup and pagedown for up and down) and just leave the number lock off so you can do your editing with the other arrow keys?

@Origenes ~ You do know you can change macrosets with a command, and also macro that command so you can use them all? With enough practice you can switch macrosets and keep the flow of combat going.

you can't do it anyway, the text box thinks the arrow keys on the numpad are the same as the normal arrow keys, and it cannot distinguish. Therefore you'd end up being unable to correct mistakes in your typing etc. If you turn num lock on, then they are the same as the number keys, so you'd be unable to type numbers (/give pandilex 500), and it would be a pain.
If you build it, they will come.

Exactly what I was going to say Pandi :-D. Maybe there could be another macro set 'mode' in the macro thingy where eight moves north, 6 east, 2 south, and 4 west. When I was little and making computer games in Q-BASIC, I did this for games where you could move.

The only problem is, you couldn't use numbers in chat.

Edit: maybe the 0 key could toggle it on and off.

What about the shift button...You could hold down shift while moving? Would that work?

If I recall correctly, the keys on the numpad have their own unique scan codes so it should not be a problem to trap for them and do the appropriate thing.

Alternately you could setup a form key preview handler and check if the ctrl key is depressed and if an arrow key has been hit. Once both keys are determined to be depressed then you can trigger the movement at that point.

it would be nice to be able to use arrow keys but i dont think it will ever happen mainly cause jlh says no he dossnt want it for some reason i could think of any hundred different key combinations that would make it simple enough to implement but at the end of the day jlh has the final word
