Hi everyone.  Up for some designing again?

On 1-alt, one popular class of weapons are those which have good damage modifiers against certain monsters, while having only relatively moderate damage otherwise, so my challenge to you is to design weapons of this calibre for the server.  Modifiers should be around the *1.5 region.  Consider as well their origin... who forged them and which area they might be found in, and who might use them.

So could a weapon have a positive modifer on one monster but a negative modifer on another?

Yes, you may have weapons that do more damage on one monster but less on another.

 

Values between 0 and 1 will reduce incoming damage rather than increase it.  Negative values will, theoretically, heal the monster, but I won't implement any weapons with that because it is untested and hence unpredictable.

Spade Shovel vs Small Snake/ Large Snake/ Rattle Snake/ Sand Viper = good

Spade Shovel vs Granite Beasts/ Trolls/ Large Rock = bad

Okay this is my rough Idea I will work it out more later..

 

1. Will supply name and description later.. Weapon will be of dwarf origin.. thinking this will be a drop but wouldnt mind it being craftable either kind of   like how blade of time is created maybe different.. its the idea of the weapon

  • Classes that can equip: Fighters, Paladins, Rangers, Thieves. 
  • Crossbow will have 23 BD(not set in stone)
  • modifier to beings that are armor'd some how ex. exoskeletons, armor plating, suits of armor, ettins etc... maybe +1.5x - 2.0x
  • then adding a modifier to faster mobs such as snakes, spiders, etc... get my idea.. to maybe .8x - .5x
  • Normal speed mobs it would do normal damage.. such has humans, drows etc...
  • Maybe toss on a bleeding aspect similar to poison 50% for 10 points of damage..
  • Ohh yeah level requirement I want it to be somewhere between 32-34.. first thought was 34 though.. idk if thats too high

2. Hunting bow.. Descrip will come later.. Made from elves, To be a craft will add stuff if it makes it to the drawing board

  • Ranger Only weapon
  • Bow and arrow set.. 18 BD with magical properties(not set in stone)
  • would majorly have modifiers for Hunting animals, so bears, snakes, goats, lions, wolves etc.. Maybe something low like 1.3x for some and maybe 2.0 or 1.8 for others
  • Maybe add modifiers of armor'd units to do way less damage since bows cannot pierce armors as well maybe half damage
  • Level to equip I was thinking level 29(not set in stone)

 

Yes I am a major ranger player but I dont want anything so OP that everyone plays rangers.. so if we have to make the cross bow a gm item and the hunting bow a level 34 item so be it but i would like to see rangers get some modded weapons I mean almost every other class has one that is a "viable option" where rangers do not have one. I do like constructive criticism but no flaming..
