Unfortunately, even if the square wasn't log-to-local, it will still get exploited for the very same result, and it's not that hard to do. The only solution I can currently see for that will not go down well with the playerbase.

No point in trying to fix the "exploit". If you fixed it people will just start paying the small 100g to refresh and then l2ling somewhere else or use RH or Clan house etc.
