If you ever pay attention to the rose garden descriptions, it won't take long for you to realize they are the worst in the game.

First of all, a description describes the area you are in. It's not something like "you are close to revealing the mystery of the rose garden", or "Remember, if something doesn't look real, It probably isn't."

They should be more like:

You are standing in the midst of a rose garden. The rose bushes rise from the ground in beautiful hues, creating a very pretty atmosphere, the roses here are a very pretty shade of red, and bloom excessively, decorating the delightful place.

I hate the use of the word 'very', but appart from that. Not bad ;p

Just my two cents.. Granted, some of the descriptions can be worked on.. there is much more to an area than just the physical description.. The story itself holds much mystery and I believe that the creator of the area wished to accomplish a bit of that within the story. Showing that there is more to the area than which appears.

Personally, if the descriptions were indeed going to change some, i would describe it and yet add within the mystery in which it was created. I personally believe that whoever created the area did a great job, and yet it just needs expanded on.

Rather than:
You are standing in the midst of a rose garden. The rose bushes rise from the ground in beautiful hues, creating a very pretty atmosphere, the roses here are a very pretty shade of red, and bloom excessively, decorating the delightful place

I would state:
Amid the crimson sheen of the rose petals surrounding you it seems there is a mystery present within the walls of the garden that can't quite be explained. Perhaps among the tranquil beauty lies something in wait, something that is only masked by the exquisite blooms. Do you dare journey on? What dangers lurk amid the thorns and petals of this gardeners paradise?

Regardless, I believe (although of course I could be wrong) that Deval is working on this area as well as the area that will be extended from the garden itself.

Respectfully,
Amy of Draco

No, a room description describes the room, not what your are thinking. The goal of a 'mysterious' area is to create the descriptions so that the READER thinks these. It describes the room, not your mind.

if you wish to suggest improvements, i recommend going to the square in question, and doing /bug with the old desc, then the new desc. (doing /bug means i see the square number you were on at the time)
Anything i post on here is subject to change at any time without notification to the board.

Don't be silly, players don't read descriptions...

It is a shame that alot of work can be put into making areas and 95% of players won't read them or care about the story behind the area.

I like the idea behind rg but agree the descriptions could be improved.

The current descriptions in RG are mundane. I have had the descriptions of the monsters changed in there already, excluding the giant cinder beast and Atrium Monarch, as it's harder to get a thorn key than stopping Scream from stealing a twinkie, and I wouldn't change a desc without seeing it first.

As for the tile descriptions, I haven't felt inclined to change them, as I feel it's not my place, nor my business. Only one of my sqaures in the extension shares the undernourished description of the original tiles.

It's sad that no-one pays attention to the descriptions.
