Kantele is under Elven control, not Drow control. The Dark Elves (Drow) merely infest the surrounding woodland. If the Drows wish to totally deny their half-brethern entrance into their Inn... we can't really do anything about that.
Edit: The plural of Drow is Drow, isn't it?

I was complaining earlier that they couldn't get in... but that was just me being me, that is; being annoying and complaining.
I voted no.
It was something Squee said yesterday actually... or it might have been early this morning- Elves are a proud people.
When I think of it that way, half elves... aren't really elves at all.
The Elves of Kantele, be they dark or other, are still Elves. Not only that they are a close community of elves, who live with other elves, and who wish to deter outsiders and keep them out- that is why the inn only allows elves in.
A half elf... isn't fully elf. A half elf somewhere down the line becomes non-elf. The proud elves of Kantele probably aren't going to make an exception to the fact that a half elf has some faint sliver of blood in common with them.
That half elf is not an elf. And they are still an outsider ^^
Unfortunately for me and my training
Edit: The plural of Drow is, indeed, Drow. Or you could use the word Ilythiiri instead- it looks prettier and means the same

Pretty noble of you Charon... and a very strong argument. If I'd said yes it would have been for the pure purpose of making my training easier.

Some actually do want to play them so go ahead and /cry.actually not only should half elves be allowed in but they need to get their stats switched around so ppl actualyl wanna use em
I voted yes, but only before reading Charon's post. I gotta say it makes sense after hearing it put that way. But I would still vote yes because I don't think rationally when it comes to making things easier for me.

It's like if two full blooded germans move to the US and have a kid and the kid (skip some) and he may be 100% German but he has been hanging around American kids and doesn't know/care about his culture/language (skip some more). So my point is that today's Nightmist Elves aren't really Elves at all, but just shells with an Elf-like appearance. I mean, what's to stop a Half-Elf from being more like an Elf than a full blooded Elf? It's all in the attitude my friend. Besides, I mean, can those Elves REALLY tell if someone is a Half-Elf or not?

If I voted on polls I would vote no on this one. Elves are a proud ppl that prefer their own kind. To have a half elf around would bring the feeling of disgrace to a full blooded elf.Elves prefer to surround themselves with things that will bring them joy over long periods of time-things like music and nature. The company of their own kind is also very important to elves, since they find it hard to share their experiences or their perspectives on the world with other races. This is one of the main reasons elven families are so close. However, as friendship, too is something to be valued, even friends of other races remain friends forever.

Most phantasy books I have ever read that contained elves and half-elves as characters make it rather clear that the half-elves are looked upon as an inferior race. They may have elven blood in them, but they are never truly accepted as elves by the rest of the elven community.
I do know that this sounds biased, but that is how elves are described in most of those books, a proud race that consider themselves superior to other races and hence discourage mixing with those other races. Since they discourage such mixing, they won't accept a result of such as one of their own.

If an elf marrys a person from another race then they are cast out of the community (Kantele). Their son/daughter (The Half-Elf) will be disrespected because of thier Elven parent didnt follow the rules. They should not be allowed back and neither should any Half-Elves. Thier families have disgraced the Elven race and this is what the consequences are.

Exactly what I was thinking. If Elves frown upon outsiders, why would they be accepting of the product of an Elf who dared have a relationship with one outside his/her own kind?

Many elf cultures could in theory (in theory because they really don't exist) give half-elven children human names to honor their heritage. If a community did that, then it wouldn't make sense for them to treat them as inferiors. Though they would have trouble relating to them, as the half-elves would grow up faster and obtain less wisdom as well as wanting a more fast-paced life.
However, as far as the community not liking non-elves and disowning any members who consorted with them. It would make sense for that community to not allow half-elves in areas, or even oppress them as long as they are there.
I think though, that individuals should be able to get past these barriers, and maybe there could be a special quest item you could obtain from an elder of the community that allowed you entrance to these restricted areas. Say, an Elfblood amulet.
Elfblood amulet:
can be worn by: Half-elves.
This amulet was given to you by one of the elders of Kantele. It shows that you are welcome anywhere in their community. This is a badge of honor, wear it proudly! (Any requirements not listed are probably not important.)
I understand Charon's viewpoint, which is why I believe only half elves should be able to obtain, and wear the amulet I described above. Otherwise, no Half-elves shouldn't be able to enter the tavern if other non-elves can't.

Hopefully it wouldn't be a 'click click dead, click click /get 'stone of plot significance''' thing...
But either way, a quest for half elves ^^ I like, I like
