Well, I was reading the Opal Spheres post, and ran across screen shots of 2D massive online games.
They reminded me of Final Fantasy III for the SNES (it was FFVI in Japan, 3 in US)...

Does anyone share a liking of the series with me?
If so, any recommended games that are similar or as in-depth?

Also, what games do Nightmist players consider "classics"?

1. Final Fantasy (III and 7)
I am hypnotized by the Final Fantasy series, and I always have been.
My favorites in the series are FF7 (PC), FFIII (SNES), and FFX (PS2). I missed some of the games, and I no longer have a PS or PS2, which is where most of the games post-SNES came out. Not a real big fan of FF8, which I played on the PC as well.

2. Super Mario Bros. (without question classic and fun)

3. Super Mario Cart 64 (guys at my house still play races and battles, and we're 19-22+)

4. Grand Theft Auto

Ya'll?

I've played Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, 10 and Crisis Core, all good games. The best one is 7 in my opinion because of materia, I just love it.

Grand Theft Auto is good if your bored and want to blow things up, in my opinion

-Gta series(gta 4 on xbox live is simply amazing with all of the options from gametypes to free roam)
-Contra series(nuff said)
-God of war 1 or 2
-Any and all things Mortal Kombat(except the movie and that gd song)
-Resident Evil series
-Killer instinct
-Elder Scrolls.. morrowind- oblivion and so on
-Tomb Raider series
-FF series #7 being my personal fav.
-Fable .. this one is subject to be changed on how the sequel goes ..it is due out on the 1st of oct. but for now it looks like it is going to be a amazing replayable series as they made it multiplayer and such.
-Counter Strike
-Zelda series
-Call of duty series
-Tony Hawk games.. any and all.. for some reason have kept entertaining me since the ps1 version.
-Guitar Hero
-Rock Band
-Tetris
-Half Life
-Team Fortress
-I used to be big into the Halo series but as its progressed it seems to have slid down a slope geared towards little kids vs. hardcore gamers and I've lost all interest ..CE & 2 still hold a little interest if I am challenged to a match.

If anyone who replies on this has xbox live feel free to private message me your gamertag and I will add it when I check forum again..

there is a ton more that I can list the ones I listed are just in my rotation lately

I agree with all of the ones DJ says with the exception of Tomb Raider, any FF, and all the Rock Band and Guitar Hero stuff sucks. Other than that the others are good.

For me, the games that made huge leaps in gaming:

- Pong (like it or not!)
- Space Invaders
- Pac-Man
- Tetris
- Wolfenstein 3D
- Command & Conquer ("Yes, power shifts more quickly than some people think!")
- Quake

I prefer classic 2D games over the more modern 3D games, to be honest; I find they are better for breaking out of the real world for a bit. Nothing like running Pac-Man around a blue maze! Fantasy all the way, whereas today's games remind us about reality a bit too much sometimes.

ADDENDUM: Though DDR is very original and great fun (and a good way to show off!) it doesn't quite cut it as a revolutionary game in my opinion.

I was gonna list off a bunch of radical games. But then decided....

Mario Kart 64 > All

Although Sonic is a badass. Game Gear ftw.

The old arcade games did it for me!

Shinobi
Bubble Bobble
Sno Bro's
Pac-Man
Centipede
Arcanoid

I'll never forget the 1st arcade game I ever played. It was space invaders and was so long ago they didn't have colour yet. They used to use sticky backed plastic strips in different colours for effect.
Why is it you can sue a cigarette company for cancer, McDonalds for getting fat, but you cant sue Smirnoff for all the ugly people youve slept with?!

The screenshot you're probably talking about is PlayerRealms.

It's not a game but you can make your own games with it.

Tomb Raider series (II = favorite)
Final Fantasy series (VII, duh)
Zelda series (A link to the past is my favorite thus far, but I've yet to play Twilight Princess, so it may be topped)
Mega man series (can't really decide, x-3 through x-6 were all pure badassness)
Of course alot of Mario oriented games too.

I'm in the middle of playing FF Crisis Core actually, and since FFVII was my favorite game ever, I'm having orgasms all over. Started off in hard mode thinking I could handle it, and so far I've probably died about 40-70 times. Also, first FF game with new game+, wow, shiny. (X-2 doesn't count as it was the most epic fail of all final fantasy, plus you didn't keep most stats anyway)

I still play my N64 too, original super smash bros and super mario kart ftw (as well as that..really gay harvest moon game I still play for some unknown reason).

I'd probably still be playing my NES if it worked, but I got an emulator for games that old. (I actually got a N64 emulator working, but I couldn't get the PSX emulator to work, anyone wanna give me some advice?)

Not much of a gamer, I mean the game system I remember ever owning last is an updated version of regular nintendo. Which was well over a decade ago. I only ever owned 3 different game systems, though. Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Gameboy Advanced.

I didn't play my first Game Cube up until recently. Like literally a few months ago. Just as well as the older version of ps2. I've yet to even see what a X-Box looks like in person.

Is there any systems I'm leaving out? I'm talking ones from this decade.

I don't like racing or shooting games, I've discovered.

Mario Brothers,
Donkey Kong,
Sonic 1 & 2
Tetris
Clue

And whoever said... Oregon Trail!!! I thought I was the only one who remembered that game, from playing it in school. I wish they made it for the pcs that are out now.
When you do something right nobody remembers, but when you do something wrong nobody forgets.

Hump in game.

Nobody mentioned Metroid?! That's like the original Tomb raider...but with real boobs 0.0

But yeah I've been an rpg man myself since the getgo. Played every single FF...with the exception of one I couldn't afford to buy for NES or SNES...can't remember.
Things like Legened/Secret of Mana (almost all the versions),
Breath of Fire (All),
Zelda (all of them...and it isn't ur traditional rpg),
Chrono Trigger/Cross,
Legend of Dragoon (wasn't that bad of a game tbh)
Vagrant Story,
Valkyrie Profile,
Xenogears (only liked the first one for PS)
Wild Arms (prefered 1 and 2 for PS)

Then tactical espionage like Metal Gear Solid but I'm a role player and like to sneak in boxes.
