Lets face it, this game is all about alts and party management and you cant really play the game at the fullest if you dont have a decent party.

So as the title say:

MERCENARIES

At every pub there would be a button, and when you press it youll get a list of crits that you can hire as hired swords and the cost per day, which is determined by the player who puts his alt for hire.

When you are in a pub you can use a command, lets say:
/rent [crit name]/gold amount ( something like that, pls think of a better command than /rent )
The crit is then removed from your account and placed on the list so that someone can hire it.

You can hire crits by doing /hire [crit name]/amount of days

The crit then stays on your account the amount of days that you have bought it for, when the days are over the crit is returned to the "list" again so that someone can hire it again.

You can take away your crit from the list by doing a command like /removehired [crit name] (or something like that), if the crit has been hired to someone at that time it will return to you once the days it has been bought has been spent.

I hope you get what i mean.

I like it. But I see a couple of problems...

1.People might try to sell the character. Not that this couldn't be easily avoided by making it so that the characters couldn't be sold.

2.People keeping the characters for ridiculous amount of time. Once again easily avoided by making a limit as to how long the character could be kept

3.(this one is a question of mine)How does the original owner get the character back if they want it? And if there is an easy way to do so, then what if the character is currently in use?

Other than those two easily avoidable problems, and my question, I like it.

Problem would be if some evil person rents your crit and suicides it repeatedly

Make it so rented crits don't lose exp? Overall i like the idea, people who don't play lots could just rent crits out cheaply. You'd have to make it so the person who pays for the crit could not change the equip at all as well, otherwise people would just grab the equip and run.

Yeh the mercs would run off from the the battle when things go wrong so they wouldnt lose exp if they "die"

And merc's wouldnt give up their eq away, so you cant remove eq's from them.

I Like it as well but if you do this then you have to make it to where

1) you couldnt Equipt or unequipt items that the merc has

2) you cannot name change the hired merc

3) cannot Sex change the hired mercs

4) i f a merc dies you lose the exp out of your own crits divided evenly rounded up and it automatically gets sent to its original owners account.

so lets say you have 6 lvl 30's with 350mil a piece, the merc has 350mil exp the merc get killed, he would still have to lose 1% of his exp but the exp would be deducted from the ones that hired the merc. 350,000,000*0.01= 3500000/number of alts online. so if you had 6alt online 3500000/6 rounded up = 600k exp each alt the merc didnt lose exp but the people that hired him did.

I prefer Cule's idea where the mercenary "runs away" from the battle, therefore losing no exp. You shouldn't lose a hired hand just because they die, surely

Yeah, when a merc "dies" they could show a message saying [merc name] flees from the battle, back to his home.

Which would of course be his local pub.

So mercenaries lose no exp... I can definately see that thats a good thing when you're hiring someone elses crits. It wouldn't be fair to them, if they lost them.

I also assume that they wouldn't, therefore, gain any xp while they were being hired?

Because if I knew that 'hired' crits gained xp and couldn't lose it, I could be incredibly dishonest and do something like 'hiring' my crits out to a crit I held in another account.

on the hired merc, he cannont gain any exp or lose exp. he can give/get gold, mana, pots, ect but once the merc dies it automatically gets ent to the owner's account.

Yeah, thats fair, you would just have to make sure you don't have 100k on your crit when you decide to hire it out. It's kinda silly to send the hired crit back to the account once it dies though. Dying is an integral part of nightmist, and it wouldn't be fair to send dead crits back home.

Anyway, like mantis said, they don't die, they just run home to their local

You can give items etc that are in your inventory - so make sure you don't hire out your crits with BoTs or the like in their invent :)

There is one flaw I find in this...

Let's say I just want to make gold, but don't want to run a chance of losing any exp on my crits. So I put them up as mercenaries and hire them myself. Now I protected my alts from losing exp and can make all the gold I want without worrying about anything but losing the bit of gold I made.

supported on the conditon that..
hiring them for time blocks (sounds confusing) so..

Mr. A puts his crit out for hire Mr.B buys 3 time slots (3 hours maybe?) this isnt 3 hours play time but 3 hours clock time B) and as soon as the clock time runs it is returned to owner.

Yeah, Charon mentioned that...i guess you'd just have to make it so you can't hire out crits from your own account/computer

Well preventing someone from hiring from their own account would be easily got around, on the basis that people could send their crits to another account and hire them from there.

However... what if I were really desperate... and used two computers with two IP addresses? I suggest this because I personally could do this rather than because I would ^^;;

once the crit dies, the hiring session is over . . . and I think Mercs should get less gold from monsters etc

needs a lot of thought putting into it but it's possible

Its a good Idea, but, the Merc shouldn' get exp and lose exp. If they die, that should end the contract (if a real merc, he ain't gonna work after he dead) even if ya bought it for 2 weeks. If the problem with equipment can't be solved, no equipment. Leave equiping crit to buyer. But that would leave another problem, If crit dies, how to drop equip to buyer. Lol. I mean, yea, if ya equip a blade of honor on a lev 30 crit he still is gonna do alot more damage per hit than a lev 15. And if they made it where the equip was buyer responsibility, then dropping stuff would not be a problem. Either way, it wouldn't be that easy to put in. Maybe it could be put in for a 50% or so refund on unspent rental time when died? Just as long as the pk death doesn't show up on player info.

Why wouldn't hiring a crit out (putting yours up for hire) just basically make a copy of the statistics and ban the original as long as the crit is hired out?
Then there is a complete copy of the crit, apart from equipment.

As far as gold/items goes, maybe they could be automatically given to the crit that hired the mercenary.
I am very sorry, if not for something I did, then it is for something I will do.

One big problem, It's like adding a whole new thing to nightmist from the ground up, kinda like a new crit idea.... I support though sure, i'd like to have some guys alts and kill alot of people just for the fun of it, then say it wasnt me it was the guy whose crit i borrowed, and also the friends list and clan thing, that might be a little complicated there.

I'm surprized Crane hasn't said nothing about this
How the hell would I know?
