Nightmist / Rok Inspired Ios Game (Testers Needed Soon)

So its been a while since i have been around nightmist but it was always one of my favorite games and its has been a big inspiration in the creation of my first ios (iphone, ipad, ipod) game. 

 

Ever since I first played nightmist I knew I wanted to make games. I have spent the last few months writing a turn based game engine that has some heavy influence from nightmist and rok. Now that I have the engine designed (in objective-c for those interested). I am starting to build content (npcs, drops, areas, etc..) into the game and will need testers soon. I figure who better to test than some people from this community. I am looking to start testing at the beginning of dec so let me know if you are interested. 

 

Below is a preview video of my game (keep in mind the interface design has not really started so things are still a little sloppy). also sorry about the upload resolution =/

 

 

 

 

Feel free to ask any questions about the game and I will answer what I can since everything is still a work in progress.

I would if you put it on android. IoS is so 5 years ago :)

Hey thanks for the interest guys things are getting closer and closer every day. I am really hoping I can have it submitted before xmas shutdown. I will post another video maybe this weekend or something (this time with a better resolution so you can see whats going on haha!).

 

Sorry about no android for now. In order to do everything I wanted with the game engine I had to write the whole game engine from scratch. Since I wrote it from scratch I had to write it in objective-c and couldn't use a multi-platform premade engine that a lot of games these days use. I am not saying its not ever coming to android but it would be like jlh rewriting nightmist for mac (a total rewrite). Obviously it would be a lot harder to rewrite nightmist which is wayyyy more in depth than my game but you get the point.

So I finally finished my game and submitted it to Apple this week. I am still waiting to pass review but if all goes well it will be available on the app store on my 8th.

Like I said before Nightmist inspired me to make games as well as the game itself in quite a few ways so if anyone is interested in trying it out let me know I should be able to get you a promo code.

You should put it on android. Android has a far larger market share across the world and android phone users spend money 2% more of the time on apps. If it was android, you could also port to things like the Ouya fairly easily.

It would be nice but the code, game engine and the database is written in objective-c. Android uses java for the most part so I would need to learn java then rewrite the whole app (looking at about a year). Rewriting this for java would be like rewritting nightmist for mac in terms of work. Depending on the success I might but right now the time investment just dosnt make sense. Trust me I wish there was an easy way to port but there just isnt =/

So I released my game about 2-3 weeks ago and things have been going great. Got as high as 5th overall in roleplaying and constantly stick around the 20th overall in roleplaying.
