Nightmist 2d?

I've often been tempted to recreate the world of Nightmist using my 2D gaming engine, and some specially selected graphics that I feel would best represent the world itself.
As a POSSIBLE fun little project, I had the idea of starting something like this, perhaps for just my own personal enjoyment, but figured I'd share this with the rest of the community.
At first I wanted to call this project Knightmyst, but it's far too obvious. So Resthaven Online was my next choice, and I kinda like it.
Please note, this project is just for personal fun, I have no intentions of making a fully available game from it, but I might let some veteran Nightmisters have a play if I'm feeling in a good mood.
So far I have a logo:

I years ago did the opposite - a *reduced* version of NM. 2 sides, each side picks 10 characters from a predefined list (think I had made fighter, ranger, paladin, cleric, beammage, blastmage, shockmage). The computer fights them off automatically until one side is dead.
I also made versions of this for captive, wizardry, eve online, and a couple of others I cant remember right now!
In summary, joanna concedes that Zelimos > joanna.
Retired... Now I know how it feels to quit NM and troll forums.

Just for fun, I have other things that are priority. Whether or not anything will come of this who knows but it would be cool to see the world of Nightmist in a 2D environment, like I have always wanted to see since I started playing in 2001.

It's just a sub domain to his main site and there's a link to a forums, which is equally empty.
There is no actual game/installer (yet?). It's like pre-alpha atm.

After that it's a case of adding the classes, and all the spells and items, and doing the mapping which won't take long, seeing as all I have to do is convert the already designed world of Nightmist into 2D.

Would suck, Nightmist might be a dying breed but it's still going strong after all these years.
Good luck with a 2D version.

natural progression allows for a playable 2d version of the game, and would actually fair about as well in theory as nightmist did in its hayday, maybe 400 players max or so. eventually, just like nightmist, it would die out, however most games like nightmist tend to have a few people sticking around far passed its prime, there's games 10 years older then nightmist which still have 10+ players who play for example. I would actually like to see something like this built and probably would be happy to play if not try out.

I don't think that there is enough interest for a 2D Nightmist game, therefore it won't go ahead as planned. However, I've already been working on a similar style of game which can be found here:

it appears as if there hasn't been some activity in a bit on that site
