throughout times, fairys have stayed close to the forests and thier small caves, but during recent was throughout the world, fairys have started coming forth, trying to protect the innocent, or siding with evil such as themselves.

stats:

strength: 17
intelligence: 18
dexterity: 20
costitution: 18
wisdom: 21
charisma: 22

classes: Cleric, Mage, Pacifist, Ranger

racial bonus: + 5 armor, + 2 damage, - 3% fizzle, and i wont pretend to know how accuracy works, but accuracy like they have + 2 dex in den area

class disadvantage: - 5 armor, - 2 damage, + 3% fizzle, - 2 accuracy in non den areas

i know there isnt class disadvantages, but i really think if this class was put in (i know there really isnt a chance) it would fit the profile of a fairy, as they dont usually even leave thier dens, let alone be away for hours at a time.

Dens would be like morph set, on the exception you must pick one to get a racial bonus and you cant level past 15 without setting your den (message would read when trying to level past 15 "Your innerself is longing to find a home; search the world for a home then type /denset for more information"). Dens would be "Forest, Desert, Underground, Swamp, Mountain. There could possibly be more. Forests would be Triken Forest, Forest of Lost Souls, and so on; Deserts would be Jahanna Desert and Chronos Desert; Underground would be Orc Caves, Illuminated Tunnels, Ancient Tunnels; swamps would be Erecule Swamp, Dieing Woodland, Gendharas (sp?) possibly; mountain would be Mountains of Sentent, Mount Forawnosty (sp?), Mount Frostburn. Ofcourse, new areas could be built with this ability in mind.

Compared to elves (and gnomes), this race is useless for mages. ^^;;

People would obviously set the worst area as their den.. I'd suggest a damage bonus in their den area..

compared to anything, humans are useless...doesnt mean they dont need to be in game. you want to make a mage okay, you want 19 con...half elf, you want high dex gnome, high wisdom, elf...

People would obviously set the worst area as their den.. I'd suggest a damage bonus in their den area..

not neccessarily. some people may set desert as thier den as they'd deal 10 extra damage a round in the desert, along with hitting more. or some people might set forests as thier den so they can pk easier south of nightmist. its personal preference, i like mountains, so i would set my den as mountains.

there is a damge bonus in den area

racial bonus: + 2 armor, + 2 damage, and i wont pretend to know how accuracy works, but accuracy like they have + 2 dex in den area

P.S. the idea needs work, and better stat balance.

please elaborate what you mean. do you think the stats should be raised, lowered, both? i added 1 to wisdom as i figured thats all they could stand to be raised before becoming overly powerful

I could just see the kids in-game if this went through.

XXXX just looked you over.
XXXX yells from (Hidden): Oz is a fairy.....

Sorry but with the class name, it leaves things wide open for the children. Besides isn't a fairy the same as a human seeing that a fairy is a tiny imaginary being in human form?

And fairies aren't humans. ^^;; Fairies are their own race. That's like saying dwarves are human...but shorter.

i think youve been watching too much peter pan brother. Fairy's are, how to explain this, like dwarves, a different class in every way, however fairys do have the ability to change forms, like humans. Fairys also arent all small, some are the same size as humans, just depends on the type of fairy.

/t squee he means fairy as in slang for gay people.

however i think your right Dan, i dont think itll be the younger kids since they havent heard the termanology that often, they were too young

Altogether bad idea.

Scrap it.

As far as basic intelligent races of the fantasy world, Nightmist has it basically covered. Having said that, i'm quite sure JLH isn't one to put unnecessary things into his game.

I think new classes should be considered before any new races. I believe Nightmist could take a page from Dungeons and Dragons book and do what they did. When out of GOOD, new ideas, they thought more along the lines off geography and added new eastern-based classes, such as ninjas and samurai. Perhaps delving into new things like this is in the best interest of the progress of Nightmist.

If i may use Dungeons and Dragons as an example on a more broad viewpoint, it has been the most successful fantasy game and franchise ever created, and its playable races have been that which Nightmist has, with the exception of Half-Orc. To say Nightmist requires more races is foolhardy.

On the other hand, I don't think i could count the numerous classes that D&D has. In fact, there are magazines coming up with new classes for D&D pen and paper players on a monthly basis. Just the types of mages, for example, cannot be counted on both hands.

New classes are a must for the expansion and maturation of any ongoing fantasy game, be it computer or pen and paper.

If you insist on suggesting new aspects to be added to characters, take all this creativity and aim it at classes if anything. I dont see Fairies being added to Nightmist any time soon...

If you disagree with me about classes then aim your creativity at the development of new areas, items, or equipment.

Your telling -ME- someone who has suggested such areas as Path to Penalia, Sewer Drainoff (original, not current, had a weird swamps at the end, explained mutated rats and such, storyline included arilins fun dumping habits), Hasteres, Dark Creek Rift, School of Sorcery and Tactics, and like 4 other areas? I've thrown out class ideas such as Shamans and Hunters, suggested a many of items. If anyone has a right to critisize anyone, i think it would have to be me. If you think this is such a bad idea, for someone who suggests everything and anything, then why dont you go out and start putting as much effort into this game as me. Go read my topic on the School of Sorcery and Tactics and tell me i dont put my creativity into areas.

/t Alone There wasnt originally a -2 acc (whatever that is 0.o). maybe you read it wrong : ))

I meant no direspect at all. And I never questioned your creativity. All i'm saying ts that Nightmist, in my opinion, isn't in need of new races. In fact I validated your creativity by saying to aim it at other things. Sorry if i came off as self-righteous or anything, that wasn't my intention.

Just putting my two cents in.

I feel that this race would simply be made pacifists and set their "den" to whatever the museum is.

I don't really see a new race needed at the current time, just doesn't really make sense to create a new one that doesn't have a fair advantage over other races while still having fair disadvantages...

Not like my word is always right or law, just how I see it.

-sidenote for -ice_cold-
I personally like your ideas for 1 alt classes better than creating a new race...if you would make one of them in a final form or focus on one a bit more and get it to where it'd make a good addition it'd be cool.
Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore, get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.

go read shamans, the last page, youll see that they were a more dont then some of our current classes we're using.

i dont think such areas as 'museum' and trails would have a des, as they really arent anything, how would a building be a den? so they would get an auitmatic penelty.

look at halfling rangers compared to fairy rangers

18 19 21 18 18 19
17 18 20 18 21 22

yes, they have 1 less str, 1 less dex, but they have 3 more wisdom (fairing better against magical classes) and 3 more charisma making them hypno beasts.

look at mages now (human, hald elf, elf, gnome, then fairy)

19 19 19 19 19 19
18 20 19 19 19 20
18 21 19 18 20 21
17 21 20 18 19 18
17 18 20 18 21 22

they hit for less, yes, their magic deals less, yes, they have highest dex, would get higher magic then the rest of the mages, and would resist hypno better

look at cleric and pacifists yourself, youll see they also get benefits.

obviously the idea isnt liked, if a staff member would lock, i would be appreciative

17 18 20 18 21 22 would make a severely good cleric...perhaps too good, i think i preferred them with 20 wisdom :)

Not sure this would work, but i don't see any reason why there shouldn't be new races added to the game :)

There should be more races, after people have all the classes they would like.
