Counter Attack For Fighters

I think fighters should have a counterattack skill that works just like a mages counterspell and do .5x your normal damage
...but i dont believe it should activate on a stormwrath or a mages spell

i believe ur just trying to make fighters stronger with the whole .5x more damage that would pretty much make fighters better then zerkers and pretty much a gold except to mages/druids with armor spells i do n't like this idea fighters are fine the way they are

fighters should beat a raving lunatic with a weapon in a fight everytime if they didnt the romans woulda never won a battle

your overpowered druids still dont have to fear the fighter even with this ability

Mages are not all that better than fighters when you consider they are more useful in a party and don't rely on a constant supply of mana. Although i think something simpler would be better like parry that would work similar to counterspell.

Fighters will never beat a mage with aop, 1on1 until theres a Mana Leech weap for them..

So if you acknowledge they suck why would you not want them to be balanced in the game?

Fighters in this game are clearly outmatched by about everything. For this reason i beleive they should have the chance at the .5x dmg being as they are skillfully trained in using weapons as opposed to a zerker who picks up a weapon and wigs out. I do not however fell this would over power a zerk but rather give the fighter a much needed edge.

i dont think fighters should beat mages period! i think that they should be able to win any melee fight (of course if they heal thats another story). but they should stick around pound for pound in any melee fight and they just dont!

Fighters can easily take down a zerk in the first place, this is just overkill, and yeah I don't think they should have any counterattack/parry. But I agree with THC that maybe a mana leech weapon would be a nice addition.

Don't quote me on this be I always thought mana leech only worked if you were down in MP? So how would that work on a fighter if they don't have MP to be down on?

this game would be boring if everything was matched evenly, that's why it's all about matchups. a fighter vs a zerker should always win. same with a ranger, unless the zerk gets lucky smite. if you don't like how fighters match up against mages/druids, then use something else. not a hard concept

I say leave the Fighter class. I don't think it's because they're underpowered, I think it's because they are just a boring class (no spells/skills)

Well, since fighters weakness comes from armor blocking blows alot, or high armor making it weak, give them a 2stam ability, same strength as a 1stam attack, but it has a 50% chance to go through 75% of enemies armor. So in a full round, if your spelled, a mage has armor on, might look like this.

You attacked Nubby_Mage with Blade of Time for 18 points of damage.
You attacked Nubby_Mage with Blade of Time for 80 points of damage.
You attacked Nubby_Mage with Blade of Time for 69 points of damage.

The first hit, since 50%, didn't work, but if you get lucky enough, you may be able to round a mage with 3 85 hits or higher with fighters. Obviously they wouldn't be able to do 80s on 40ish armor (25% of 160) without a cleric, so 1v1, there's no chance of fighter rounding mage 2ez in 1alt pt, would be an interesting fight.

I've still yet to be beaten 1 vs 1 by a fighter with my mage unspelled,

no matter what weapon they're using,

they should be given a parry or counter attack,

as like previously said Fighters are the most underpowered class,

the counter attack with a .5 chance of success would even that up a little, but not enough, the class should hit for more with the weapons they use than any other class, as they're meant to be more skilled in melee than any other class with edge weapons...

and tbh - you screwed yourself over in the title. "fighters should be the best melee race".





if you read anything on the forum you'll see stuff about overpowering races and how people are trying to balance the game; and your attempting to do the opposite.

Ehh... I don't think anyone wants to OVERpower them... but it would be nice if they were a little closer to equal.
