Everyone knows the feeling when they enter a mosh and find themselves at the top of the screen. Or when they log a party and find thier cleric above all the others, meaning it will be hit first if that party gets jumped. So why not make it so that the crit positions arnt the same for each person?
Im not sure exactly how the current system works, but it is probably similar to the system where there are a set number of character slots, say 1000, and when you log on your crit is given a random free position out of the 1000 availible, and everyone sees #1 as top working down to #1000 as bottom.
If this is the case, then make it so that each client you load gets a random 'offset' number between 1 and 1000, and the crit positions start from that number. So say your offset was 666, then the crit at position 666 would be top, working up to 1000, jumps back to 1 and then up to 665, which would be the bottom crit.
To stop it getting confusing, if you already have a client loaded any further alts you load would have same offset
this would also stop people joining a mosh, realising they are high, then keeping logging and rejoining until they are bottom
Make Crit Position Client Side And Random

not possible
the system works by having a large amount of connection slots (say 1 to infinity)
when someone connects, they take the first available slot (say 100)
if the person on slot 50 disconnects, the next person to join gets slot 50.
all game code that needs to work on users goes through the users in slot order.
sometimes it is put in abc order after that

I meant do it client side, so the only thing that changes is individual players display, not actual game code. So one client might , say, start at slot 50, and display crits up to the highest one then go back and display the lower ones, while another might randomly decide to start at slot 70.

From what JLH said- Log on your hitters first, and your clerics last.
That will put your clerics at the bottom of your characters.
There isn't a lot you can do about other players' positions.

If we only work on the display side of things, isn't a random offset rolling table possible in the client? JLH?
