I ran a quick search and the only Xbox Live discussions were years ago, in which time gamertags could be expired and/or changed.

right now my acct is cancelled for getting a new one for mw3 and the new nhl game. I will post it where as soon as I get a new one (a few weeks).

My GT is IXThunderdomeXI. I play COD4 and MW2. Black Ops was awful in my opinion, they downgraded anything that worked and they have to add map packs every two months and double xp every month so people will still play.

The new Zombie maps are keeping it alive for me.. rest is crap.
