I don't believe you play 1-alt do you?
Use my less aggressive initial post instead of his little rant and answer the basic questions that should apply to any item change:
1. How does boosting the equipment improve the game?
2. Is simply upgrading existing Rose Blades best way to help the game? Crafting with Rose Blade is another option that would seem less lazy.
3. Could improving be construed as bias?
- Does someone own several with a good route to improve their profit?
- Does a certain group dominate healing bosses?
- Does a certain group or individual regularly use the benefited classes?
-You cite tons of bosses to add drops to or alter. But the impacts of changing drops entirely are impossible to accurately project. Those changes stand a chance of dramatically altering economy, availability, value, and class purpose.
-Crafting, alternate bosses, rare drops from existing bosses, and trading boss drops for tokens with the tokens acting as a new form of currency have all been pretty successful historically. I'm sure there are other effective options that could be controlled and planned.
-One example for 1-Alt would be utilizing them as part of or options to the leveling scheme.
1. How does boosting the equipment improve the game? - Having random bosses that extremely rarely get done, if at all, does not help the game. Though that doesn't mean the equipment has to be boosted.
2. Is simply upgrading existing Rose Blades best way to help the game? - I don't believe simply upgradilng it is the way to go. Instead a crafting recipee to make it a better weapon or into some other type of equipment might work. However even then there's little use for ones not already dropped or used once the original crafting is done, as there's such a small need on 1-alt for redundant weapon/single class armor drops.
3. Could improving be construed as bias?
- Does someone own several with a good route to improve their profit? - As it is, CPA/Rose Blade are worth nothing, Most likely everyone has multiples. Drafting doesn't help this, though new drops do. Also making them sell for a small ammount will also help this.
- Does a certain group dominate healing bosses? - There isn't a certain group at all on 1-alt really. Pretty much every player online has to jump in for boss runs, especially healing ones.
- Does a certain group or individual regularly use the benefited classes? - Almost everyone on 1-alt has multiple classes if not all classes.
-You cite tons of bosses to add drops to or alter. But the impacts of changing drops entirely are impossible to accurately project. Those changes stand a chance of dramatically altering economy, availability, value, and class purpose. - There is very little economy outside of quest drops on 1-alt. There's especially no economy for Rose Blade's, CPA's, Halberds, Scrolls, Dagger of Spirits, Emerald Daggers, ect ect. Certain changes to Rose Blade itself woul do very little to help the weapon as there's so many of them and it has to compete with cobalt, blade of time, quest drops, sovereign sword. Is there a chance: yes, there's always a chance, but something at this point can be done to not make something not meaningless.

1) Crafting is okay, but is extremely hard on 1-alt server. Most crafts have been done only a couple times, or haven't been done at all.
2) I don't think I understand your statement of alternate bosses, you mean just do a different boss? I can say off the top of my head the bosses that very rarely get killed (under probably 10 kills a year) on 1-alt, which includes: See list below.
3) A new form of currency could be an answer, but that would definately skew the economy, as those people who have decided to take the rose blade or cpa that no one wanted, and vaulted it, and now has 20 of them over the years has a leg up on everyone else.
-One example for 1-Alt would be utilizing them as part of or options to the leveling scheme. I had suggested something like that, but there are inherent problems with that. i.e. needing 8 people help you get a boss drop is the same thing as the current system we have. In the short run a bunch of characters might be able to level up using the current drops, but in the long run, what happens when that person no one likes, or a splinter clan cant go on boss trips, or someone isnt awake during boss trips needs those drops. It'll be the same thing as our current leveling system post level 35. You're just left out.

If you didn't notice, I just name 3/4th of the bosses on 1-alt as almost never getting done. Some of these are understandable i.e. low level and large party bosses, but some are not. The rose blade only personifies the problem. Most these items and bosses were designed when there were 100+ people on during the day, which is no longer the case. They were also designed for multi-alt in mind and not 1-alt. I've said before in private: certain drops should be changed, or moved, or made sellable; some bosses toned down; some bosses have drops added, ect. Even if you look a year and a half back, before a lot of changes were implemented by Stig, you would have seen other bosses with little use. Crystal Giant was used little (drop added, hp reduced), Captain Wylsen (heal reduced so smaller party could kill it), Demonic General (new drop added, halberd became sellable).
I read somewhere that ostrichs hide their heads under the sand because moles watch porn.
