I agree that real pictures, or artwork done by other people shouldn't be added to the game.. it looks tacky...

The Golden Bracelet picture, in my opinion, is very well done and looks fine the way it is :)

The images Vampyre posted are also done nicely and I'd much rather have that spade than the one we have now. ^^

Not sure if the same person showed me the one I saw, but I saw a pretty nice-looking Ring of Fire. He then showed me what the image looked like full-size, and it was an annular red neon tube. Original and creative!

Let's bump a two-year-old post with some new images... I'm waiting to see if Elf likes these enough. The "Old European Cut" style of gems are 4 times the size of the icons, made using a raytracer, but they scale down quite nicely.
