She pocketted the keys, making note to give Bremen his key later. Lively though the rest of the establishment was... hostility was growing where she stood. Yet again she sipped the drink, closed her eyes.

When she understood so little of the aims these people had... did she really want to get involved in this? And yet she couldn't let them argue it out.

"Please" Charon spoke quietly as she stepped between Bremen and the Half Orc((Did Narin call him Dragon? I forget :))) "Please do not argue over this... 'twould be a shame to taint this place with the hostilities of power"

She looked between them... she didn't want to be here. She was more than aware of that now. She should have stepped aside. She should have tried to speak with someone else. Whatever she should have done, interfering in their discussion was not the right choice

"I was under the impression... that there would be a discussion, that we were going to talk civily, I had thought that you had agreed on a common enemy in Lord Elwin"

She was not truly looking at either of them now, but passing the glass from hand to hand, focusing on each word as she said it.

"If this is to be so... why do you feel the need to fight with each other aswell?"

Slowly, Steven walked out of the Chapel (just barely dodging another flying brick).

"Well, boyo, looks like we finally tracked you down..." came a voice in the darkness. Very slowly, 3 figures came stepped out. Armoured in a chain mesh and carrying a wooden spear and towering shield in each hand, they approached Steven with sinister smirks. However, upon each of their right shoulders was laid an emblem - a golden eagle perched upon a golden lion; King Elwin's crest.

"...G-Galib? Wh-What are you doing here?"

"Isn't it obvious? We have strict orders to drive you out of Karfendale and completely out of King Elwin's Kingdom...or...if not that, the next best thing..."

"...You can't be serious...Galib...Wh-"

However, before Steven could even finish his question, all three assailents attacked at once. Steven was able to dodge the first few strikes quite easily, it seemed that Galib's lackies were (please, excuse the pun) quite lacking.

Of course, Galib, a veteran soldier and long time friend of Steven ever since he "joined the cause" was not such a push-over. Galib was a few inches taller than Steven, just a bit over six feet tall. His entire body seemed to be a weapon in itself, muscles bulged from every possible place on his body and, combined with the chain mesh and shield, he looked even more intimidating. After a quick strikes at Steven, Galib stopped and shook the golden hair from his deep, steel-blue eyes.

"Steven...you might as well give up...you're not going to...argh! Escape!" he cried, attempting to spoon feed Steven from his spear.

Even closer to getting hit, Steven eventually ran into the safe refuge of the Chapel. Although it had been ages since Steven had fought (at all), he remembered every bit of his training like a second nature.

Almost as soon as Steven reached the insides of the Church, he began to push and kick pews into random blockades. Panting hard, he began to frantically search for a weapon - a pew blockade can only slow agressors so much.

Finally, Steven reach over and grabbed a tall, slender, candle holder. With a loud grunt of effort, he swung it with such force that all three, lit candles flew forth like daggers. Of course, the candles were easily blocked by tower shields and the chain mesh.

Suddenly, Steven began to feel a panging in his left arm. It stung like mad but Steven showed no sign of injury. It seems that a stray spear-head had just recently snagged him and it was only now that he was taking notice.

However, despite this, Steven stood valiently. His face was hardened and his body tensed. Twirling the tall candle holder several times as if it were a staff, Steven looked upon his agressors sternly and beckoned them to come.

God...I'm an idiot..., he thought behind his hardened exterior.

“Argh!” expresses the figure in the shadows, quietly and to himself as the combat ensues.

He looks around the re-arranged Chapel and locates a route of quick exit; soon he’ll need it...

I hope this kid’s worth it, he thinks as he takes aim with a hand crossbow. A cabbage or two in those lackeys should more even the odds.

Staying in the safety of the shadows, *thwank* he lets loose a bolt to the lower body of the closest assailant. He then maneuvers amid the scattered pews to the other side of the chapel, and looses another *thwank*.

Fearing that may not be enough, he says in a hushed voice towards the back of the Chapel as to project his voice, loud enough as to barely be overheard by the assailants, “Lead them back into the Chapel more Kid, they’ll escape!”

He then makes his way to the window he’d chosen to use to exit and waits, with another bolt ready.

I always get the jobs that go terribly bad, he thinks to himself.

((OCC: i apologize i must have missed something while reading the posts Mantis had followed Steven out of the Inn and to the chapel because he was curious where he would be going in such a huury))

Mantis was in the confessional when he heard the pews crashing in the church. He gets up and leaves the booth just in time for a crossbow bolt to zip by his face.

Mantis notices the soldiers blundering through the church, and Steven on the other side. He notices a clear path and takes it, rushing to Steven's side.

"A candle holder wouldnt have been my first choice."He says as he draws his sword.
I am very sorry, if not for something I did, then it is for something I will do.

"Yeah...well...w-wait...who are you?" he said as he began to defend against Galib's attacks while slowing walking backwards - as was the advise given to him by...by...someone...

"Argh!" Steven was forced to grunt out loud before Mantis could reply. His "staff" was so incredibly unbalanced and, obviously, wasn't meant for this.

Stab after parry after stab after parry, Steven moved towards the back of the chapel.

"Steven...you're only making this harder on us both..."

"Urgh!" Steven said aloud again as the Galib's spearhead grazed his other arm, drawing forth a small trickle of blood.

"...Why are you doing this - argh! - Galib?"

"Orders are orders...you know that...probably better than any of us..."

This odd half-orc looks to Charon, "Sh'Hodmet is my true name, I give this to you freely, I have forsaken my master, I work alone, the demons of the Abyss know this, do not worry I can deal with them. I say we do this my way, I am going to, we eliminate the problem and then it will be solved, is that not simple? The lower planes taught me how to win a fight, but you do not know my motives do you? I am an immortal being I have gained wisdom in my time, I was milenia in age before you were born. Destruction has been cause by me, but has it also not by the forces of good? Remember good is as destructive as evil." The half-orc then starts the bone snapping painful process of changing, this time into the halfing.

"Elwin may not be the real enemy, and what then? No, I'll not let you kill him until I'm certain," Bremen said, then turned to Charon. I was right to invite her along, he thought, then said: "I've decided what I'm going to do, but I'll need to find Steven first. Feel free to come along." With that, Bremen started towards the exit.

"I'll... be right there" Charon murmered to Bremen, but she couldn't turn away from the halforc/halfling. She watched, in some way fascinated by the way he was changing. She waited until the change had finished, pondered just how connected all these beings were

"And all of you, within this body" she asked "Do you all share his intentions and desires? Do you all agree with the methods of Shaho-" she stalled "... of Sh'Hodmet?" she tried so hard to match the pronunciation, but the name slid awkwardly off her tongue

She tilted her head "Do you all hear and see the same things? Do you share... each others time in the spotlight, so to speak, or do you lose moments when someone says something in confidence? If I respond to you... will Sh'Hodmet hear what I say?"

"Just because he is immortal... for certain I respect this... but a milennias opinions, can taint ones mind greatly. Especially when he himself admits that he has broken free of whatever agent to which he was bound for many of those years. He obviously... did not agree with them as much as he agreed with himself. But he spoke the truth for it is true that good can be as destructive as evil" she smiled slightly "It can also be far more destructive. Many times have I seen troubles caused by those believing they were doing good, seen the destruction laid down by those seeking righteous vengeance"

"I may not have been around as long as he... I may not have the knowledge of the world that many of you have... but I am willing to speak my fear honestly. It is my fear, that this may happen again"

She stalled before she continued. She hated conflict of any kind, and yet she was now beginning to see herself as a hypocrite of the highest order... in her mind, she had been personifying her demons in Elwin... had been all too willing to see him as an enemy... but now as she came to speak she caught her words. Could Bremen be right that Lord Elwin may not be the enemy? Despite all he had done, despite the slaughter she had...

"Bremen" she rasped... but she still couldn't make herself continue

The Council of Elders wanted him dead... hadn't she left them and started wandering on her own for precisely that reason? To try and distance herself from the emotions they played with as they made their arguements... and yet here she was, still held captive to those very arguements, still... she closed her eyes, but all she could see was the battlefields she'd tried to pass through so quickly, flashes of red, slaughter and tall shields... the hated emblem she had seen so often, the eagle and the lion.

Could Bremen be right? She wasn't sure she even dared entertain the notion... Could anything have justified...

"I suppose" she conceded weakly "My own opinions are just as likely to be biased... just as likely to be wrong as anyone elses. Perhaps Lord Elwin is the enemy... perhaps... just perhaps, your faith... maybe he is not"

She bowed her head "But I... there must always be an alternative to killing. This much... This much I have to believe" she said it with such emotion "I have to believe" she murmered faintly

((Erk... my posts are increasing somewhat horrendously in size. I apologise greatly :) I guess I had a moment of inspiration ^^;; I'll make sure to try and make it somewhat more managable to read next time I have one of those... sorry again))

Bremen stood in the doorway of the Inn, where he could hear Charon, and tried to sense where Steven went. The Church, and I sense trouble, he thought, and headed there, leaving magical trail that would lead Charon there as well.

Drake is a member of the conclave in the mostly uninhabited town of Dendeya. He adorned in a white robe, as you eye him, you notice he is a voyager of this realm, yet his white cloak is un-tainted with the impurities of man, and the earth. His white rode is lined with with golden sewn thread down it, holy symbols lining the side, showing to those who know them, the clans, groups, and churches he is kindred with. As he enters the dark alley, he can barely make out the figures that stand before him, and casts a glowing aura, which illuminates just the area around him, not wanting to startle, or anger those who prefer to walk in the shadows. He has watched Charon's act of un selfish kindness, and cannot help to stop by this place, and see what he can do for the populace of the alley...

I have come, to render aid to this poor undernourished man, who has been betrayed by his own kinsmen. It is sad, that they left you for dead.. That is the way the times have changed as of late.. Steven.. Please allow me to adress you by the name that I know you well by.. Squee, I offer my assistance to you to help set things right.. It is a shame that someone of your stature is reduced to this.. Please eat the offering Charon has offered to you.. I can offer my white magika to protect you on your journey. I merely shepard kinsmen through treacherous and uncertain by providing protection and healing spells. I know of a blacksmith of these parts. We shall replace that leather vest with something more fit for a warrior.

(I hope I am right about this) Mantis thinks as he lunges forward at just the right time to chop the head from Galib's weapon.

"You should leave." He says to Steven as he positions himself between Steven, and Galib and his men.

"Take this too," he says as he tosses his spare short sword behind him. "you might need it if these aren't all of them."

"now," he says to Galib "why not draw your sword and show me what you're made of."

(I just have to buy him some time) Mantis thinks to himself as he says this.

Galeb just laughed as he twirled the useless staff a few times. After a moment, he simply tossed it away and drew the two scimitars that laid dorment on his belt. Showing off his grace and contro, Galeb also twirled these two blades around his body, creating almost the illusion that his entire body was surrounded by swords.

"Tell me," he said as he abruptly stopped his little show.
"What's your name? I like to know my victims names so I can take full credit for their defeat."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steven snatched his new short sword out of the air with an astounding amount of grace. In one motion, Steven tucked the sword into his belt and turned around. He knew Galeb's was quite skilled in swordmanship but...even Steven could take him down in less than 3 strokes.

However, before Steven left the Church via the back exit, he couldn't help but begin to think to himself. As that sword touched his hand, his body felt a definite chill. As if something awakened within him, something that was long buried, something that was put to rest for a reason.

The blade felt right in his grasp yet...it felt wrong. It was hard to explain, even Steven couldn't understand it. As if there were two forces within Steven, trying to drag him into the extremities of peace or the brutal nature of violence; a spiritual tug-of-war in every sense.

No sooner had Steven left than Bremen burst in the front door. Pausing only a moment to asses the situation, he launched a lightning bolt at Galeb, only powerful enough to stun him, then rushed out the back, not caring whether he had hit or not. Steven, he called telepathically, If you know any good hiding places around here, now would be a good time too use them.

Galeb simply smirked as he kicked down on a pew, errecting it in front of him. The lightning bolt simply hit the pew, burning it severly, then dissapated.

"Hit and run, boyo? Not a good plan..." Galeb mumbled as he drew one scimitar back and launched it with a great deal of force towards the back of the chapel.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steven, hearing the whizzing of the blade through air, quickly acted on his instincts. In one fell motion, he pulled the short sword out of his belt and struck at the projectile. One grunt of effort and terrible clashing sound later, Steven stood kneeling with a broken short sword on one side and a still scimitar on the other.

Kallico glances beside her noticing that Mantis was gone and wonders where he had rushed off to in such a hurry. She then turns back to Trach and takes a drink before beginning to speak.

"Well you see I--er.. Well... uh. My name is Kallico.. y-you can call me Kali," she finally gets out "I'm from a place very far from here called Elanthia."

She pauses again while she ponders how much to share with Trach as she looks him over.

"I set out from my home not too long ago. Before now I'd never been further than the very next town over but for some reason I felt to journey out on my own... in search of something... what it was or where I would find it I had no idea. I stumbled upon this town when looking for a nice place to stay and to get some food and drink," She smiles. "It wasn't until I got to this town that I felt it... I-I uh. I'm not exactly sure how to explain what I felt, but it's definately heavy. I decided it's for the best that I stick around for now."

She reaches for her pendant and fingers at it while she talks. "So... Mr. Trach was it? Are you from around here?"

The figure, still hiding in the shadows, remains, and with much curiosity, continues to observe the events unfold, all the while keeping one eye on his path of escape. Comfortable that his minor intervention has been dismissed in the jumble of activity, he has no worry of being pursued in light of the current mayhem.

Just keep track of Steven, he thinks, reminding himself of his priority purpose here.

((OOC: sorry about the late post, my internet was down))

The half-orc went through the bone crunching process turning into Silverwizard again turning to Charon he spoke, "I do not agree with the ideas this damnable demon has but his intentions are good, but the goal of destroying Elwin ot stop the problem is not always the best way, he learned his methods on the lower planes so destruction is his only knowledge, he is a powerful being though, he could pull it off. The Silverdragon, well he is the embodiment of rage, he feels that anything that will cause death is a good thing, so he approves, so basically 2/3 of what is in me is in agreement, though I personally am not going to activly work to stop him, as for the immortal part, all three of us have access to an immortal mind, we all are equal in that footing. Anyway I feel something, this crystal... hmmm, Steven is in trouble, I have to follow him." He becomes Anturox and tracks Steven using the same method as before. He arrives at the church just in time to see Steven enveloped in fog.

OOC: Silverwizard, don't you think the circumstances you describe for your character(s) are a little bit "convenient", let alone cheesy? Also your repeatedly talking of this 'lower plains' with no backstory or information to give the 'power' of this morphing individual credence. Also, I wouldn't exactly imgaine any of the players would react as casually as displayed to a being completely changing form and persona in the blink of an eye...

((OOC: What do you mean, the changing is part of the lower planes crap, also the lower planes, for those who do not know their planes of existance according to common fantasy lore are the planes of evil (ie: hell, the abyss, etc). The character is changing since on this world he has multiple incarnations but a demon can possess only one, therefore he is forced to use them all at once changing in between personas - going slowly insane from the multiple personalities in his head - when he needs a different job done. There is currently Sh'Hodmet a demon who is possessing silver and the one forcing him to condence himself into the one body though he cannot truly control Silver simply because Silver is not acctually a true mortal, except if Silver is in he form of the Half - Orc who was acctually a piece of him he created to house the second creature possessing him, The Silverdragon the demonic embodiment of rage. This character was well thought out, I was simply revealing information as the people of the world learn it. Yes you do not have the simple knowledge of a person fully such as your boss, is he cheesy because he simply gained the job of boss since you did not see him earn it all through his life, do not assume the char is not well thought out simply because I am making the char different than a standard character.))

OOC: I make assumptions on what I read, not what I believe. The character has repeadtedly mentioned these 'plains', when he does not even know the level of understanding that his comrades have of the supernatural. Why continually mention them if they are not going to be fleshed out in that instance, let alone in a circumstance where the companions are likely to understand what he is talking about. All I'm saying is the character very much adheres to the 'munchkin' mentality. Meanwhle, seriously, what the hell is with other people acting as though metamorphasis, right in front of their face, is an every day occurnace?... *sigh* Carry on.

Ulantees travels down a road, away from the remains of Gromburg and towards Karfendale, en-route to the King’s Castle. As the light of evening begins to fade, he sees on the road a discarded tower shield with the emblem of the King’s army. And a few meters further, a helmet, then barding, also marked with the King’s emblem, a cloak, and finally, a breast plate. Some distance further, the light of a small fire can be seen not far off the road.

Just off the side of the road, not far outside of Karfendale, a lone man sits by a small campfire as evening quickly passes into night. The foul stench of burning fabric lingers in the air. Upon approach, one observes a stout, middle-aged man sitting with his head hung low. Two short swords, in their sheaths, lie on the ground a few feet from him. He wears only black, leather breeches and a simple cloth shirt. A horse rests tethered to a tree nearby.

ooc: It looks like there an interesting little *goes and hunts for a good neutral word* debate on here last night :)
I'm almost sorry I missed it

I however shall throw my two pence in, if a little late

seriously, what the hell is with other people acting as though metamorphasis, right in front of their face, is an every day occurnace

The characters seemed to understand

My character makes no pretence of understanding this change... she is fascinated by it:

but she couldn't turn away from the halforc/halfling. She watched, in some way fascinated by the way he was changing. She waited until the change had finished, pondered just how connected all these beings were

Perhaps Squee has a point and she should, as Steven would be, at the least flinching away in disgust, but just because my character is, generally, a soft spoken fool, that does not mean she is squeamish

I make assumptions on what I read, not what I believe

Deval... fair play. I must admit that due to the fact I have had the luxury of having the inner personas, demons and morphing explained to me, it may have tainted my objectivity and hence my posting, causing my character to have an understanding she would not otherwise have achieved.
Ah well, we all fall down sometimes

That said... I'm slowly learning it is never safe to make assumptions. Hence I shall ask the question I was originally intending.
Deval; Is it safe to assume that Bract either is you or has your permission? Or should I be mumbling about the whole "using other people's characters" thing to them ^^;;

Also, for anyone wondering, I shall post properly as soon as I can think of something more original than "Charon follows Bremen's magical trail to the church, slightly bewildered as she steps out of the cool clear street air into the mist which fills the insides of the obscured and magestic, yet trashed, hall"
It shouldnt take long, but seeing as how shes not in a place of action a this moment, at least I shan't be holding anyone up ^^
