Steven blinked a bit then quickly ran after the Father.

"...Wh-What exactly is inside that book?" Steven said breathlessly as he opened the door to the Church for Opie.

Cat looks around her, seeing that few people are left, and that the Blacksmith's body was being carried off for the funeral rites to be performed.
"*Sigh* I might as well go to the church and have these horses taken care of." Cat takes the reins of Beleaguez, and Shadowlox and leads them to the church while guiding Hyperion whith her knees.

Opie looks down at the books "well, it's a very very powerful book, with great meaning. As to what it does, well it... it's obviously... Oh confound it all, why did I send for this book?"

Cocytus

Cocytus was pleased to note that now the blacksmith was getting the proper treatment

<Rest well> he thought softly before turning his eyes to the Father and the boy...

And at the book... he can almost sense some sort of power in the artifact, his eyes locking on the golden text as he strains to see the cover, trying not to look too interested. He knows... somehow he knows that book is not one he is meant to go near and yet... its almost... as if that fact itself is drawing him to it

His eyes passed over the text on the cover as he watched the Father... or was he watching the father?

The whispers... almost seem to whistle through the air around him as he continues to stare at the book, but this time... this time they don't overtake him. This time...

<They're speaking the words of the book> Cocytus thought distantly as a haze descended on his mind <I can hear... the book? That... that's ... that's st-stupid... why... why could I hear... hear a b-book?>

"Is it... g-getting cold-der" he shivered slightly, finally drawing his eyes back up to the Fathers face and was shocked to find he had already eached the church "But... but I..." he looked around frantically, then saw the woman who seemed to be riding along a little behind them

"W...wait ma'am" Cocytus scuttles towards Cat "I'm ever so sorry ma'am, but I'm meant to be taking care of the dark horse. Sh...Shadowlox" he remembered the name

The horse flicked its head around, hearing its name spoken aloud

"Please ma'am, it... it wouldn't be good for me to shirk my duties. Please allow me to look after that horse as I was asked... please?"

"Of course." Cat says with a slight bow of her head. "Come and take the reins. I may not show it, but it is not easy to guide a horse with one's knees."

A simple priest hearing the words of a holy text? There must be some plans for him...My vacation will have to wait.

Cocytus

"Th...Thankyou very much ma'am" Cocytus bows his head lightly as he takes the reins and tugs them lightly

"Come on Shadowlox" he whispers softly to the manificent creature, trying to convince the dark stallion that it does, indeed, wish to walk alongside him instead "You know I was asked, so don't give me a hard time, please?"

"E...Either way, ma'am, I would not have guessed from the way you handled them" Cocytus smiled weakly "You seem most gifted with" Shadowlox jerked away from him as he held the reins causing him to take a staggered step as he tried to regain his balance, and keep the creature near him "With handling these creatures" he finished awkwardly, painfully aware of his own inexperience
