I remember the first two times I logged on.

First time was when a friend of mine was going to help me out and get me started. After 5 minutes we found a Silver Amulet that he picked up in a second, since I had no idea how to do it, and told me that it was worth 10K. I bitched him out in swedish for a minute or so when Cyric showed up from nowhere and gave me a warning for "swearing". I felt distinguished and logged off.

Second time was 2 months later.

Moral of the story: Cyric was mean back then aswell.

I remember when experienced players were more willing to let "newbs" tag along with them. Numerous times I had Crane tagging along as a member of a larger desert training party. These days I struggle to find new players at all, let alone friendly ones. In fact, the last group of new players that I found were players of Realms of Kaos, playing Nightmist due to RoK having server problems.
