I think the point of this thread was to say grats to the new staffers, not a thread on who deserves it and who doesn't.

The decision has been made and only time will tell, at least give them a chance before we start to crucify them, or alternatly make another thread.

Oh I see you get staff and the Fox goes away? See staff changes people. And I don't like it.

Yay for the foxes going away ;)

Of course they don't - they will risk losing their position if they do anything to benefit their mortals like that.

Just one thing, I think that maybe this should have been introduced when Tirantek was fully opened up (discovered everything possible) because now the new staff members (not mentioning any names or pointing at any people) can just run through the Tirantek area and find all the secrets which some people have spent months of work on..

If Tirantek is "completed" then someone please correct me..

uhh if they do that its called abuse of staff powers and should be reported... they are not allowed to have any gain on an area/quest because of their status as staff.

If you suspect someone is doing this, i'd report it to an admin. And frankly its an unnecessary shot at the new staff's character...do you honestly think any of them would do such a thing?

Staff hardly have a "/teleport to secret hiding place!" Command, only way they could still find areas like that is to actively seek them, which would still be seriously tough. Or accidently teleport there. One of which would take time and leave a chance to get caught, the other is a horrible mistake which will prevent them being allowed to go there.

Yeah, what about pete's? Scripto was owning my clannies with his new sword that does 10k damage! LOL come on, I would find that a huge challenge. See who can kill the staffer in pete's! We can't sit and kill all of the staffer's fun here. I agree that they shouldn't be able to explore new areas to gain on their normal crits. Thing to remember though is that Tirantek has been around before the new staff was inducted and most of them already explored Tirantek as Foxie stated. When new areas start popping up, then I would be more concerned. Till then, don't see it as a concern right now.

Btw, congrats to all the new staffers!

And thanks Em, didn't realise that they already knew it inside out.

I think what he is trying to say is this:

Do the new staffers have full access to all the current maps in game (via staff forums), thus giving them ability to rule areas on mortal crits, avoid death traps, know where secret doors/mumbles are, without ever needin to use thier staff crit?

I was talking to ste about this... thing is, if they do this, and JLH finds out, then they then get demoted from staff, and lose abit of respect ingame maybe, personally, I wouldnt risk lowering my standards even more... So for the big names that just became staff. I'm sure they wouldnt think twice about cheating the game. WHY SHOULD YOU DOUBT THEM KIERAN?!?! LEAVE IT ALONE ;)

All discussions aside, grats to the new staff - not the least Jared, with the abysmally small amount of votes you got, I didn't think you'd make it!

Back in discussion mode - basically we must trust staff to not abuse their powers, because they can abuse them and might not get caught abusing them. Using mortal crits while knowing the area inside out from the area developer who made it is just one possibility.
Personally though, I would not start out believing that the new staff are a bunch of low-lifes. Yes, staff members have abused their powers before and some probably will in the future, but hey, give these guys a fighting chance to do what they're supposed to do, before starting the flame-campaign.

it has always been, that areas created by a staff were not allowed to be explored by the staff's mortal crits until the players had been through it well

I believe what they are saying is if they have access to all the maps of all the areas coming out what keeps them from using their mortals to go to other ppls areas.

Say you, JLH, have made an area and the map and all the lil secrets are on a top secret uber forum of staffishness. Pandilex goes to that forum and looks at the map, then uses his mortal crits to go to the area and get through it easily because he has access to a map and all the lil secrets of the area.

I believe THAT is what they are worried about. Not staff making an area then going and owning in it right as it opens as it was made by them so they know each and every square of it.

My question is why is this a big deal now. It has always been that staff hired from the playerbase has had mortal crits and all of a sudden NOW it's an issue that ppl are afraid there might be some cheating? Is there something different about these staff members as compared to ones hired in the past?

The thing is this: Personal integrity should always be followed. It is not right for any staff member to use their staff crit to recieve personal gain upon their mortals. I know that those that were selected for staff are of the utmost character in their honor and values. Give us all a chance without judgment please.

Have a great day.

Even Jen didn't get this much criticism and she was one of the most active players in NM at the time and always was given crap. Never did I see any posts accusing her of doing any of this or even suggesting that she would.

There is only 1 person in staff I don't trust, but I won't say that person would do this stuff. There is 1 I don't know so I won't judge them. The rest I am pretty sure would never even consider it a possibility.

Tirantek really is a masterpiece, I really think only Crane would know if every secret has being found or not.
