As a note- I don't think quests would solve the problem. They'd toss something into the mix to make things more entertaining sometimes, but mostly people would just whine more often.
I'd like to see some good quest items like the old ones, but I don't think we will--if many people have them, they become too powerful. Think of a 3v3 with a person who has a 4 Ruby Rings on a druid or mage, or something like that- simply too much to handle (which some people could probably buy a dozen if there are 30 in game--which would happen if quests were ran often---though I'm sure items would be different, this is just an example.)

I didn't mean for 100's of quests to come flooding in. But 1/1.5 years really is quite lame. And it's not about the items, it's about doing it.

I'm not a sitter on this game I like doing things. But I and many others have run out of things to do and I find it annoying when there is a 6 month drought before new areas are opened, and some staff association with game is to log on for a negative or sarcastic forum post occasionally.

So in the eventual boredom between boss spawns what else is there to do? Lately I log off, others talk... others sit around on forum and sgh talking nuts for hours on end... To me here lies the problems Gaddy was talking about.

More personal opinion than fact but I think I'm right.

People's egos are the majority of the reason why I dislike this game. You can continue to repeat yourself time and time again.. about how much you dislike it. It isn't going to change anything. Those with flaring egos are too stuck on themselves to actually listen.

Very well said, as always Gaddy!

I think that there are alot of ways that we could improve as a player base myself. But, for the most part, even those that are considered "trouble makers" in game, have some good in them if you sit and take the chance to talk to them. I am not naming any body inparticular, but am saying, as a whole, there is more good then bad in Nightmist. Ya just have to open your eyes and look.

Also, perhaps some don't like reading this or that.. the flaming, the war post, etc.. just a suggestion, skip over it, and focus more on game improvement, rping, or doing something that makes YOU happy. Each players needs, enjoyment level, and reasons for playing are all different, and that is okay.

Have a great day!

In the way you state it there---very very in accordance with my own opinion on quests.

It's not like every item would need to be brilliant, some could and should just be items that are already around, not any better than SGs or something.
The fun would be in doing the stuff---which simply isn't around to do currently. New stuff set up for quests just...never anymore.
The Xmas quest where several of us got RoMs last year was nice, and the item was plenty good. That took a lot more effort than what I would expect for simple and normal quests though.

As for area creation-
Mike always does and extra ordinary job on his creations. I also like Natura (Jen if I'm not mistaken), Frostborn (Jess', also the level 25 area seemed interesting, but I haven't been more than one or two times....sadly), and all of Ste's old areas are fun to go to.

Those are just the monster and area types though--the descriptions I like the most are definatly Harabec's. There are several very good descriptive areas, but Harabec came out so large it overwhelmed me. The area, the town, and the style of creation are just my favorite in game.

Gnome Caves and Chronos by Ste are also a couple of fun places. Simply more difficult than most, and less well known. The things you do to get through them are also creative, I like that about them.

Wisdom is the principle thing. Therefore, get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding.

It would be nice if we could have alot of items that made it so you could customize instead of everyone having a hally... which they ahve done already to some extent seeing as there are 3 weapons i know of with 25 base damage... but with other weapons too. but this would also take a large amout of participation the members part

I agree!

Sums up a lot of the community that drains (drained?) the desire for staff to make an extra effort.

gaddy, kudos for creating the most thoughtfull eyesore i've seen so far.

you know, i never liked this game because it was free. thanks to that crappy mmo engine that steals final fantasy tiles there's a plethora of free RPG's designed and hosted by nimrods that are totally free. yet, no one really plays them because thier crappy, buggy, made by 12 year olds, and actually look worse than snes games. i can imagine the developers, "what? but it's free!"

i liked the game because there was a window that i was around for where people didn't take the game so seriously. most everyone had fun. the staff weren't rigid authoritarians then, there wasn't a need for that. areas came by as much as they ever did, there weren't complex but no one was all that concerned. the window is certainly closed now, and there was drama then too, but it was minimum constant drama that comes with people. the insanity that you're pointing out here is not like that at all. the reasons that people were able to play the game back then without freaking out were...

1. better pvp. i know classes are better balanced now, but that's not exactly a great thing. pvp now is one of two things now: a coin toss, or a scale. a coin toss where people with matchable classes, stats, items, and skills battle eachother to no discernable victory. didn't win the first time? two out of three. three out of five. it doesn't matter. it's really like a coin toss so much of the time. the other battle is like a fight for tipping a scale. you apply as much weight to one side to claim victory in a non-battle. truly pointless. i think this probably causes a lot unneccessary drama, because you can't settle any who's tougher than who with a "who's richer than who" fight or a coin toss, or much less, words.

2. the ride didn't cost so much to go on. in order to play nightmist, you need a crapload more than you used to in order to be competitive or keep up with the costs of an ever increasing alt collection. now even though the alts pay for themselves, you make a non-returnable deposit of time. you don't get that back. so nowadays just getting by takes what? atleast four or five times the resources and time committment? it only makes sense that people wouldn't generally take this kind of an investment lightly. it may just be a ride, something to enjoy, but when you turn it into a job with shifts you aren't playing to have fun, and it doesn't help the community either.

the fact that this has been a recurring theme for awhile now tells me that i've been around too long. it also tells me i'm not the only one who's been here too long. nightmist has a serious linear streak in it's design and i think a lot of us have followed the only path available long enough that we know whether or not this applies to us. nightmist can't change to even out our power struggles, and none of us are going to ever get the best of anyone else without deluding ourselves.

imo people just get too caught up in emotions over a game. which is sad but true

everyone has a complaint about something which is why people get mad easily, they say things that shouldnt be said and most times say things that the other person thinks is offencive but is pointless roleplay...

thats my opinion

look i know nightmist isnt prefect and it really pisses me off how it is sometimes. and i wont even say what i think could fix it because everyone has their own idea and theres so many people playing nightmist and no one is every going to agree to 1 idea. simple fact is people play cause they do. even if u dont wanna admit it you people do play and everyone may quit for a while but no one really leaves for to long, so nightmist must be doing somethin right? well i think they are and not everyone can be happy because in order to make some people happy in the game you have to make others unhappy. if u dont like the game dont play i guess, lol if it was only that easy to quit... neways im just talking but the reason is i dont want to see jlh shut the game down for some dumb reason like too many complaints.

 I am not scum or a pothead for that matter, I actually have a job and do not live in the south.
It's simple really.....If ya don't like the game or players then find a new one.
If you have "done everything there is to do" then find a new game to play.
There are some really intelligent and kind people that play this game......not many but there are some. B)

Indeed. I don't think anyone is going to say you are wrong Gaddy. Just a pity so many people won't do anything about it. As for the duelling section of the forum.. I can't see that working without breaking the TOS.
