I love this idea, the mana cost are kinda high, and the spirital journey is an awesome idea, but it probably wont happen, that would be like remaking the whole nightmist map. Otherthan that, it is pretty d**n good.

Actually, i dont think it would. It would require the addition of code to certain areas, and maybe even just a singular square.

Suggestion: Put a square in some areas that is labeled something like "Incense Alcove", or some other kind of place that would be accessable by Shamans only, who could take their spiritual journey from their. The square would be non-pkable, of course.
I make this suggestion out of the idea that a spiritual journey is just that, a journey of the spirit. Your body would remain intact (though, in game it would really not stay at all...) and the shamans spirit would go off to a completely different place. Knowing this, a shaman with any common sense would look for a safe area in which they can take this spiritual journey.

What the what?

yeah, um, it would have to be in an area where they can concentrate, and have use of smoke...

to penguin...(i think) it throws 6 shards, they dont have 6 stamina. when you first get the ability at lvl 24, you only have 4 stamina, but you throw 6 shards (max at lvl 24 is 144, 25 150, 26 156) only goes up by 6 damage each lvl, but takes full stamina like recall.

I'm sorry, but whenever I hear of a ranger, I picture this elven figure, up in a tree, waiting for his/her next unsuspecting victim/meal.

*shrugs* no need to be sorry. Everyone has their own opinion of something.

I think the shards spell should be upgraded a little being the best spell for it.... maybe something like (lvl*1.5+stam) and lower mana cost to maybe 50

im not trying to make a 1 click spell here. they have small control of elements, they arent too strong at it, the reason why its so weak

This class is ment to enlighten other players, not neccessarily attack monster with spells and big bad weapons.

People should pay more attention to this line before posting...

its not all about the violence. its about enlightenment.

The Shaman is not a mage!

Sure, it shares some similarities but is not a mage by far. It's...something totally different.

This class is Completelydifferen't from Mages, and from every other class for that matter. They have some unique abilities, some spells that damage like clerics, mages and druids, and the have minor protect spells. In no way is this class like a Mage

One thing I've realised... if Shamans have Levitation, they can float over the washed out bridge in the Forest of Souls and collect all the gold and items that unfortunate warriors have dropped there when they drown... not to mention another way in to the Gnoll Fortress (albeit more dangerous due to the archers)

EDIT: Fixed spelling mistake.

I don't think levitate would work there. Leveitate simply erases the need for ropes. You die on that square regardless of what you have (I have died their while the spell Protect was cast on me).

I know, but in theory, the shaman would just hover above the water.

Well, if a shaman can levitate to the top of a mountain, surely, a shaman would be able to levitate to the top of the Necromancer's Tower...in theory, of course. :)

Meditation should revive mana and not health. for thats what meditation does.
but the regeneration of the mana would be like lvl*wis/5 every 5secs.

Levitation would have a height limit. no more then one square up.

I obviously was using an example about how you wouldn't be able to use it in some situations. I was using an exaggerated example. >_>

i was thinking of it more as a levitating up, not really moving too far forward since your concentrating so hard on staying in the air. if you try to move north, east, west, or south, you autimaticall will be on ground again

I've been reading this post for the last 20-30 minutes picking out as much information as i can and I must say I am impressed. The original idea and the additions from other players reminds me why nightmist continues to be my game of choice.

just because you wanna get to arch or be able to kill monsters/players easier, doesnt mean everyone feels the same way. i have 5 mages, i love them although they are incredibly weak. its like saying we dont need half-orcs because we have dwarves

NOT OVERPOWERED, AT LEAST EVEN POWERED, WHAT'S THE POINT OF PUTTING WEAK nutsTY UNDERPOWERED CLASSES IN THE GAME?
exactly, there isn't one, at least make them a formidable adversary
and I'm sure your one of the very few people who want their arch to take 2 rounds to kill a bunny, not me wanting an at least average powered class

note: I can't spell

If you think Nightmist is all about becoming the most powerful person in the game, you are sadly mistaken.

However, no matter how cliche it sounds, I can't tell you what is the most important thing in the game; it's something you're going to just have to figure out.

There should be a button beside your "A" key. It's called "Caps Lock." You may want to push it before you lose all your dignity.

As for balance, this class is balanced. It has perks, it has it's draw backs. It's not the best but it is unique; for me, that's what makes a class good or bad.
