A Disturbing Trend....

Why does the name of a character in a game matter? It's just a game. Get over it.

Also, I'm disturbed that no one role plays anymore. An example... during the Arilin-Harabec War, on the AR side, Amy was role playing, and doing a fine job of getting other AR fighters in the RP mood. Whitless (aptly named, might I add) screamed at her that it was just "a game" and to stop over reacting. People actually LEFT Ar's side to join HB to kill Whitless. i hate when people do that stuff. It ruins the idea that is it "a game" and is to be treated as "a game" where RL isnt involved.
Just venting some frustration!
BTW... my crits that I rolled are named
Astrid and Xarai. My ex gave me his cleric Etherial (a misspelling of Etheral) and I got Impossible from someone for a healing pot and Heartbreak was a gift. If i had gold I'd give them all real names... Kyndalyn, Mneuma ect

because the game is an alternate reality where you become another person and get away. You arent average Bob anymore, you're Astrid the Halfling fighter... its called imagination and most people's are out of order. Why does the name of a character in a game matter? It's just a game. Get over it.

If most people do it, majority rules and you're the one who is wrong.

But they relate to how I feel when Im rolling a crit at a given moment. Its a game. whats it matter what ya name is. As long as the person playing the crit is satisfied who cares.

I understand that many "good" names are taken but you can still make up names that aren't just words.
I'm not saying people CANNOT have names that aren't real names.. I'm saying it detracts from the role playing aspect. We're not in the US or Britian or anywhere else for that matter while we're playing... we're supposed to be in Nightmist.
I know certain names make people happy, and if they can role play with those names thats even better. But the fact is most people do not or will not role play, and it removes the willing suspension of disbelief.
