I live in America and yes I love my country. Yes there are bad things about america and yes many of them imo have to do with politicians. However there are many good things about it as well. No place is perfect but since this is where I was born and where my ancestors have called home even before it was called America/USA I choose to love it flaws and all.

I don't believe this is even a discussion.

way to go. maybe that is why it isnt in the Off-Topic discussion area and its in the off-topic poll area where there doesnt really need to be discussion because its mostly just a POLL?

ouch, Brava, You know what forum section your in. *Applauds* Now go learn basic dialogue and you'll see people are discussing things.

 Were you not just saying "I don't believe this is even a discussion" but yet you retaliate to my post by saying "you'll see people are discussing things"

i sense a lot of irony/stupidity in the things you say B) ...

And to get back ON topic, I do agree that America has it's flaws and weaknesses but I also believe it has it's triumphs and strengths. The politicians are somewhat screwed up, if not a lot, and quite a few people abuse their own rights as a citizen of America but it doesn't make them any less than a human being that has wants for himself/herself. We all have wants of something and sometimes those wants aren't always met. Sometimes we get so hung up on our needs and become selfish for ourself and don't feel like sharing. We've become like children again, if not spoiled children, and our parents would be the politicians that spoil us. If only our politicians and government weren't as selfish as some of them are then maybe America could be a little bit better than it is now.

Despite all these people who are more interested in money than the people themselves, I do love my country and it's ability to remain strong. Pride is knowing that you and the people around you possess something good, like liberty.

I love my country, ‘cept for the damn Leprechauns getting under your feet, tripping you up and singing Diddilly-i-di-i-dum, diddilly-i-di-i-day all the time. Little feckers!

And the red hair and freckles! That’s just rust from all the bloody rain, we need dipping in varnish is all.

Well, I simply voted "I live in America" because I both love and hate it equally. Here we have more then most others and although the government may control us to a point, we are still aloted the freedom to live a life as we see it fit (obvious exceptions excluded of course)
I don't see it as the country it'self is to blame for anything, but it's the politicians who make it look good/bad. So yes I love my country, but I hate the people who run and represent it.

I greatly dislike the government (named "Labour" or "New Labour") that currently rules Britain, but the rules they are playing by more or less ensures they stay in office. The country itself and its people... I like some parts of it and dislike others. The best we can do is try to be with what we like, and if we can't (like living in a city but wishing to be in the country, or vice versa) we bring it to us, in our minds. We try to do the best we can with what we have.

I mean, in all honesty, if you truly hate your country and more or less everything in it, there is not much hope for a happy life.

As a decided Leftist, I'm really not a big fan of my country. There are so many problems in America, that it almost makes me feel physically ill.

But despite all its problems, and no matter how much I don't like it, it is my home. The place where I was born and raised. And I do love it.

(I still wanna get outta here as soon as I can :-x)

What the what?

So true...and so sad...talking to someone (Name Protected) made me realize, America sucks. Too many rules, and the ones that are good are barely enforced.

Before I start, I guess I should say that I do love Canada. An amazing place to live - good schools, good people and a stable (but far from perfect) government.

Anyhoo, I remember my English teacher asking this question once.

"Who here would die for their country? If a war broke out in this room right now, would you take up arms and fight for your country?"

I remember I raised my hand fairly quickly. And I was the only one.

Then, another person raised their hand - they had a question. "What kind of war? If we like, out number them by like, a hundred to one, I'll for sure stand in like, the back or something."

Shocked and appalled - I was utterly flabergasted by that remark.

Where am I going with this? No-where really. I just like to share with strangers - I'm sure I'll be a fun grandparent.

I'd definitely say that i'm English, and not British, or (cough) European lol. And yeah, i love my country, cannot imagine living anywhere else.

I also remember my history teacher asking that same question, would we go to war for our country, when we were about 13 i think. Every single guy in the class put his hand up, and about half the girls too :(

You know, there's an old speech that the American WWII General Patton once said and in it he said this:

"Now I want you to remember...that no lovable companion ever won a war...by dying for his country...he won it...by making the other poor dumb lovable companion die for his country."

That saying's always on my mind when someone mentions if I would "die" for my country.

Edit: What he said wasn't "lovable companion" it was bas-
tard

Its because we got a country to be proud of. :(

And for anyone that moans about are goverment, Stop crying, you'd moan if conservatives were in same as you would about everything, the reason being that people have nothing better to do than claim the governments doing a bad job and its not at all helped by the media blowing stuff way out of proportion.
