It would mean bringing out some new bracers though, maybe... anything with "Shield" in the name would give a chance-to-hit loss.

I would still prefer Rangers not to be able to use the larger shields at all, with the exception of the Shield of Faith and Feathered Shield, maybe.

I thought the idea of rangers are they are faster and easier to move around therfore they dont use much armour as it slows them down. (im guessing that rangers = archers irl) so if oyu look at alot of pictures of archers they dont have much armour on them at all

I pretty much had to laugh while reading some of these post. I would just like to add that if we are going for realistic then why cant i be two squares away and make a ranged attack on someone? I mean after all a bow is a ranged weapon not a melee weapon. Also why is it that i dont ever have to buy any arrows... Im not saying that Rangers should be allowed the biggest baddest shield in the game but I do have to shoot down the bracer idea, for i can see it now...

No1Ranger: has equiped his elven bracers of master archery.
No1Ranger: Ha Ha attack me now mrbeserk.
mrbeserk attacked No1Ranger with an oak staff breaking his wrist and causing him to never be able to draw a bow again becasue he was stupid enough to attack with a bow from 4 feet away!

A ranger should (imo) be able to Equip a small shield such as a buckler which would be strapped to his forearm. Well thats really all i guess.

I cannot support this idea for the fact that I said this a long time ago. But hey o well its just a game and adds defense for the ranger to make things fair. Its not like a fighter could swing or thrust a weapon 6 times at his full strength anyway with a shield. Its a ficticious game where mages whoop people with bludgent weapons and sharp swords. Not like a fighter could even hit a ranger anyway with a bow and all would be alot of space in between them. Suppose I am just saying let some things stay as they are for changing them now only makes more people unhappy. But give rangers a new bow that actually has a better attack base Now thats an idea!!!!
