Opie stares in awe as Mantis leaps through the air onto the back of the Nightmare stallion. In fact he stares so long that he nearly gets skewered by a pike. He rolls backword and runs to Charons side. "You're lucky, he missed you on purpose. I've ssen him kill anything and everything in his way before."

Blaster stares at the nameless soldier as he is attacked. He dodges the soldier easily, but will not hit him back. "Wait, I knew you, when I followed King Elwin!"

The Silverdragon appears to be in serious trouble for a few seconds as the soldiers he is facing off against are beggining to win. He suddenly glimpses Mantis and fear grows in his eyes, he swears loudly in a multitude of tongues and starts to utalise the tactics his current form should be using, not the dodge and parry style he was employing before.

"M...Mantis" Charon choked on the flickering energy and the stale air as he continued to change... her mind identified the scent of brimstone, but she was more than willing to believe she was imagining it.

She looked up at him, his power now realised... and her barrier simply couldn't take the strain, the dark flames causing her shield to overload

With a swift flap his powerful new wings Daemon rises past his feet and into the air, barely missing Charon with the huge wings

She flinched away instinctively as the huge wings skimmed past her, as he rose to the air and to the flamey mount. Her shield flickered faintly in the air before her before the sheen simply... faded away...

"You're lucky, he missed you on purpose. I've seen him kill anything and everything in his way before."

"Mantis... doesn't strike me as a killer" Charon started to protest but thoughts flickered wildly in her mind

<Is he even Mantis?>

"I guess... I'm glad I'm lucky" Charon murmered softly to Opie, slightly awed by the sight of the Daemon riding on his Nightmare

Daemon slashes down at the nearest soldier with his greatsword of fire, melting the man's sword like butter as it passes through, cleaving the soldier in half and incinerating the remains.

((Silverwizard is engaged with 2 soldiers but there are 6. Mantis has killed another soldier; there are 4 more around him. Bremen, you have killed 2 soldiers.

There were 13 soldiers since my last OOC post.

13-1-2 = 10 plus Galeb

So, to summarize, Bremen, you have no agressors. Mantis/Daemon has 4. Silverdragon has 6. Galeb is running towards Steven.))

Galeb nearly threw himself at Steven, coming down with both his blades atop Steven. With a heave, Steven placed both his hands on his broad sword (one on each end) and held Galeb's weapons at bay.

"...G-Galeb...why are you doing this?" he said through clentched teeth. Galeb had gotten so strong...or maybe Steven had gotten weak; it didn't matter. Galeb was quickly over-powering him.

"You...You don't have to do this...
...You...you know as well as...urgh! You know as well as I do that King Elwin is corrupt!" Steven let out a mighty cry and thrusted his arms upwards, knocking Galeb back a few feet. Then, he placed himself into a proper fighting stance and stared at his oprressor.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Orders are orders," sneered Galeb as he jumped back gracefully.
"To serve is purpose. You of all people know this. Without King Elwin...where would you be? Out in the fields, tilling the soil?

He gave you propose...only, you were too blind to see it."

Galeb rushed forward again, this time, coming in on an angle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steven cried aloud again as he heaved the over-weighted sword at Galeb.

I should help Mantis' mission, even though he is gone now.

As Deamon approaches another soldier, instead of slashing him with his sword, he jams A deep purple crystal unto the man's chest.

The soldier looks down in horror as his life is drawn out into the crystal.

The crystal flashes slightly, and the soldier drops to the ground.

(I haven't actually killed any of the soldiers...)

Bremen looked around to see how many soldiers were left. 6 on Silverdragon, 3 on Mantis...or whatever he has become...and Galeb dueling Steven. Got to end this quick before to many more get killed, Bremen thought. Moving with surprising speed and stealth, he walked over to the group of soldiers attacking Silverdragon. He grabbed one soldier by the arm and swung him at a second one, intending to knock both soldiers out, then released his grip and threw a punch at the back of the next soldiers head.

Daemon hops off of Beleaguez and quickly dispatches two more soldiers in the same fashion as the one before them.

Daemon smiles.
Mantis never had the nerve to use Azrael's stone to capture souls. Even though it would be the fastest way to revive his sister.

Daemon looks at the next soldier, a malicious grin on his face. "You will be the next lucky one to help revive one who has been slain." As he says this he points the stone at the soldier, and begins moving towards him.

"Stop" Charon was infront of the soldier near instantly. She didn't know what she was doing... Opie's comment that she had been 'lucky' still rang true in her mind and yet...

The malicious grin sent chills through her as she faced him down

"This isn't you Mantis... whatever you've become, you don't want to do this... I'm sure of it. These soldiers, I dislike them, but they can't deserve whatever fate that trinket grants them"

"And I'm... And I'm sure you can imagine how glad I am to hear that" Charon said softly, forcing each word "But these soldiers... do not deserve to die that way. (The lightning bolt was designed to stun, and none of the soldiers would have flown farther than across the street. The main action in my last post was was to attack the group of soldiers from behind. I don't think two attacks per round is unreasonable for a fairly skilled fighter, and the soldiers can always dodge or recover. Btw, its 'cast' not 'casted')

Bremen left the remaining soldeirs and walked over to Charon. He retured to his normal form, revealing a small and rapidly healing cut on his left hand were he had caught the sword, and cast a sleep spell on the soldier Charon was protecting. The he began to cast sleep spells on the unconcious soldiers, ensuring they would not wake up until long after the battle was over.

"You will not stop me from achieving my goal here today." Daemon says with a snort. "I am not Mantis. I am Daemon. Mantis was a sniveling coward."

As he finishes he flaps his large leathery wings, propelling himself up over Charon and down onto the now sleeping soldier, jamming the stone into his chest. The stone glows brightly as it has been filled to capacity with souls.

Steven swipes at Galeb's swords, knocking one out of his grasp. With a grunt, he lifted the sword above his head and began to strike down at Galeb again. However, he suddenly stopped as he glanced at Daemon. He watched in horror as he viciously attacked that poor, helpless soldier.

"...Wh-Wha...N-No! S-Stop it!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Pay attention, Steven-boy," Galeb snickered as he swiped at Steven, creating a bloodied "X" into his shirt.

"...You'll be sending yourself to an early grave in vain."

Opie runs to the demon that has taken Mantis's place and readies his sword, facing the beast. "I know what you're trying to do, who you're trying to help. But I can't let you do it! As a paladin, i need to defend the defenseless, and as a friend, i need to stop you from doing something evil. Cat wouldn't want you to do this! Even if it was for her!"

Blaster, angered at the soldier ignoring him, flips his axe sideways. "This'll teach ya." he then swings his axe hard enough to send the soldier sailing right towards Galeb and Steven. "he he he."

Galeb's ears twitched as he heard something sailing towards him...something big. He smirked and turned sideways, grabbing the soldier's garments with one hand. Finishing his spin, Galeb let go of the man and hurled him at Steven.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"...Wh- Urgh!" Steven cried out as he doubled over and fell backwards, the soldier laying limply on his chest.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Galeb smirked his maniacle smirk again and approached the struggling Steven. Just as he pushed the soldier off, Galeb placed the heel of his foot on Steven's neck and began to press.

"...You should have just stayed with Lord Elwin. He would have treated you well. You were one of his best soldiers considering your age. Pity, wouldn't you say?"

Unfortuneatley, Steven could only reply with a gasp and a slight gurgle.

"I don't care what you think or who you are. Mantis is dead. I do not share his reservations about tactics." Daemon catches Galeb pinning Steven out of the corner of his eye. "Hmph." He remarks as he tosses the stone to Opie. "Find Beleaguez, and give that to him, along with this." Daemon says tossing Oathen to Opie. "He will know what to do."

((Beleaguez wandered off after Daemon dismounted. I forgot to mention it though.))

After finishing, Daemon turns to Galeb and lunges at him. His fangs and claws are bared, and drool is trailing from his mouth.

Galeb turned and his face twisted with shock. Daemon was coming in too fast; there was no time to think of something to do. At the last moment, Galeb thrusted his sword forward, hoping the beast was too stupid to impale itself. He removed his foot from Steven's neck and planted himself down firmly, teeth gritted and breath held.

Opie stares blankly at the stone in his hand. There wre odd mists swirling inside of the stone, and Opie had an odd feeling he did not want to know what they were. He sheaths his own sword and takes Oathen in his hand. As he is running towards Beleaguez he whispers to the sword "Who and what has Mantis become?"

Blaster runs over and plants his feet firmly in front of Steven. He turns his head slightly, while still keeping his eyes on Galeb "I don't know who you are, but i recognize you from somewhere. I will help you if you want it. I may look small, but it will take quite a bit to move me from this spot." With these last words Blaster grasps his axe firmly and holds it with both hands in front of him, almost as if he hoped to use it as a shield.

As Bremen flings Daemon, he flaps his wings, becoming airborne, and he resumes his charge. Fool of a duid, to think he can interfere.

(Bremen is extremely strong in this form, and is fast in just about any form. He was also standing right next to you, and you were completely focused on Galeb. Also, you diddent give anyone a chance to react when you attacked that last soldier, dispite the fact that there were two people there protecting him.)

Bremen quickly transfomed into a giant eagle and followed Deamon into the air. Two of the real eagles dove to attack Deamon, while the third swooped down to land next to Opie.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The King of Eagles swooped down to land gently next to Opie. That stone..May I have it? he asked Opie telepathicly.

"You ask the others to help Steven, yet you place yourself in MY way when I seek to fight." Daemon snarls angrily at the eagle Bremen has become. "You should know that an eagle has no chance of defeating me, nor even stall me for more than a second." As he says this Daemon summons demonic fire to surround the eagles on all sides, including Bremen and the eagle on the ground.

((Stats on the fire include: Temp:120000 degrees farenheit, negates magic (other than magic from an angel of equal or greater strength.), Causes an intense feeling of fear and dispair.))

"If you do not leave, I will command the fire to incinerate you and your eagle companions. I will dispell it if you decide to leave."
------------------------

"You will not give any creature other than Beleaguez the stone you now carry." A steely voice speaks to Opie. "The demon that gave you that stone is and is not Mantis. You must also honor your word as a paladin. If all goes well, someone other than me will be able to explain the whole thing to you in detail."

Bremen cast a shielding spell to protect himself and the eagles. I will need my full powers here, he thought, and returned to his normal form, keeping only the wings. "An eagle alone may not defeat you, but I can. You don't seek to fight, you seek to destroy. You call yourself an ally, yet you comit the very atrocities we fight against. You are out of control," Bremen said. The two eagles attacked, aiming for Deamon's wings.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The King of Eagles ingnored the relatively small amount of heat seeping through his shield. What that creature is doing is wrong, Opie. It is your duty as a paladin to stop it.

"Why... am I even here?" Charon murmered softly as she watched the sleeping soldier lose his life... "Why am I here, when yet again there is nothing I can do... nothing I can do to stop anything, to halt anyone..."

<Why are you so desperate to fight each other you fools?> her eyes showed pain as she fought back the urge to call aloud <First Bremen and the Silverwizard... now... now Daemon who has relieved Mantis. Can't you see.... that if you kill each other, you're only helping those you truly wish to stand against? Can't you see that?>

She rose her head high and her eyes... were sad as she looked at them

"What... can I do here?" her gaze passed over each in turn. She could shield herself, or one of them... but which would make a difference? With Bremen and Daemon so intent on fighting each other... Opie already defending Steven, Galeb surely more than capable of defending himself

<Would I even truly wish to help him, even if with that action... if he were the one who could stop the fight?> she asked herself silently, but she refused to let herself answer

Here among the battlefield a plea for peace was useless

"It always... always was" she realised in slight despair as she spoke softly to herself "A plea for peace was always useless. My family, my people, were slaughtered while I maintained a plea for peace... will I truly be forced to face such a reality again?"

"Is peace really so hopeless..."

She looked away from all of them... then her gaze flicked back up, her eyes narrowing as she looked towards Opie... back at Daemon and Bremen... back to Opie and the stone of souls he now held in his grasp along with the massive sword

<The speaking sword> the thought flashed through her mind. She had seen mantis conversing with the weapon that evening. She had seen him sprout wings, just as now he wore the wings of Daemon

<How tight can his grip be?> she thought desperately <If he holds both the stone and the sword. Surely one... must be claimable. The stone... the stone... its smaller. I know the stone seems more important, but he should be more focused on the sword, and I have no use for a sword>

Those people should not have died. She couldn't change that now though and she knew that.
She didn't know what purpose Daemon had for that stone, didn't know what the Nightmare would be able to achieve with it... didn't know what Opie would do with it... didn't know why Bremen would want it

For both sides to be so set on it... perhaps keeping it away from both would do the world of good and set their minds on their true foes

<Which hopefully... won't become me> she thought softly <Please Opie... see that I'm doing this to help people... don't resist my strike>

"Forgive me" she murmered softly, before she darted towards Opie with the intent of aquiring the unnaturally glowing gem
