Ever lost something in your acct? ever had a hard time finding a certain item? Well I know I sure have. This improvment would help us track down the lost items. by simply doing /search [item name] it could show the crits who have that item equipped or in their inventory. and also acct vault. such as:

/search advanced mana crystal
The following characters have an Advanced Mana Crystal on them:
Lalalal has 3 x Advanced mana crystal
liekr has 14 x Advanced mana crystal
There are no more characters with Advanced Mana Crystals on them.

thats the basic, suggestions? and I dont see who would have anything against it... cause I've lost cobalts and what not in my acct, took a while to track them down.

This has been suggested before, was turned down tho cant remember why. Not supported due to fact was turned down before and would be gay for it just to be added because it was suggested again.

I know I've tried asking staff to search for items for me before. But they can only search individual characters.

I think it's something that'd be useful to almost everyone at some point in their game-time. Am all for it ;)

Supported, but with the following caveat:

You should be able to /search from a particular IP only once every 5 minutes.

The search command will cause some small amount of load on the server, and if you do not have a limit, I can imagine some miscontent using this as a way of generating lag without anyone except JLH being able to detect it.

I agree with trev, didnt think of that really, and 5 min is too short in my opinion, but it works. so any news on jlh's opinion? ;)

Actually, I think I'd rather see it as being able to be used only once an hour.

We already established that, smart guy, we all can see it causing lag.

That's why we said to put a time limit on it.

You actually established that using it repeatedly would cause lag, but using it once could cause lag for everyone else on the game.

Account with 200 Crits in it, 14 inv spaces, + Equipment spaces for every single character in account.

Nm doesn't allow for multithreading and therefore everyone else would get screwed over while it did the check, unless he put in a DoEvents statement which would just cause more lag.

So no.

So that's 6000 checks (ish) for a 200 character account (which is probably the largest size account you'll get, roughtly).

How long would that take anyway? It's a pretty simple algorithm...

Simple yes, in its self its practicly nothing, but if this were to be done at same time as people trying to train, talk or anything its quite alot since as ryan said standard VB dont use multithreading.

lmfao yeah I wish I had a few Cobalts to lose. I'm sitting on the fence here though. I know I've needed it before and I suppose if they're a limit to make lag minimal, I'd support it. It's like Kinky for governer. Why the hell not?! (Texas thang ;))

Could there not be a file kept on each person computer, that tracks who's wearing/has what? Just a simple text file would do. Is easier than searching for the data across the server, and there'd be no lag...

Crazy logic, I know..
