I know if anyone "lent" me something thatI only knew over the internet, they'd never see it again.
Don't trust anyone you dont personally know IRL, cuz you're gonna get jacked. Period. I don't care how friendly they are.
Look at it this way: You met a person on an online game, and youve known them for a couple months and you think they're really nice/funny/whatever. So they ask if they can borrow this extra (item name here) youve got layin around in your vault and they say they'll give it back once they can afford they're own, which is soon. So you give it to them.
NOW, heres where you have to think about it in their shoes. You just lent them something, and that something is worth gold ingame. So, now the little devil *POOF*'s up on their shoulder and says "Hey, you know,, you can keep that and theres not a damn thing anyone can do about it. You just got yourself a free (item name here). Sure they'll be mad at you, but hey, who cares? They live thousands of miles away. Congratulations on duping a fool."
For rich people, lending and sharing between trusted friends isnt a problem, as both people involved in the sharing are each powerful and influential in their own respect, so the social consequences of betrayal are much higher. Also, given that they're rich, stealing, or as i like to call it, "keeping" a shared halberd isn't going to be worth the consequences.
But for all you Journemen and Adepts who "Just got a Hally!!! OGM!" for they're "uber 1337 fighter", don't lend anything to anyone, because whoever you lend it to is gonna think "What are they gonna do? PK ME? Hahahaha!" and keep whatever it is you shared.
This post turned out a lot longer than I expected.

Nox indeed didn't actually steal anything, he was given a crit to train and when drunk got the stupid idea to let people talk him into letting them pk the crit continuously, costing that crit loads of exp. Not a nice thing to do, and disappointing, but still not theft.
Callidus on the other hand was given that same crit to train (Fervor) and sold it for 500k (which is way less than what it's worth). He told me he'd pay Virus back the 500k he got for the crit, but didn't in the end, telling me that Virus owed him that amount from a duel he won. Personally I don't think that it excuses selling off one of his crits for way less than what it's worth. If anything he could have held that crit ransom until the debt was paid. If Virus had sold the crit himself for it's actual value, he would have been able to pay the debt from the lost duel and still have gold left over.

thats why geting drunk is for losersHaving witnessed both incidents I think I should comment on this.
