A few Ideas for a new class.

Bounty Hunters

Non magic class. Races include Half elf, Halfling, Human, Dwarf.

Uses Crossbows as his pimary weapon, can also equip smaller type weapons such as:
Short sword
Dagger
Bow
Staff
Quarterstaff
Hydra Thorn

Class is one alt, but able to join parties and clans.

ABILITIES:

-availible from start-
Sneak: Similar to a theif's covert, but each square costs 1 stam point, no exceptions.
You hide away from everyone's veiw.

-from start- Forage

-from start- Track

-level 20 ability-
Lasso: relies on Dex(hand-eye coordination)+intel(how to lasso someone)+Str(how long they he/she can hold them):
You Lasso -player-, inhibiting their movement for awhile.
Effect: movement is inhibited for the amount of seconds equal to their strenth or until Bounty Hunter is killed, whichever comes first.

Chance to successfuly Lasso someone is determined by Dex+Intel/1.5 (halfling: 26.7%, Half-elf: 26% human: 25.3%, dwarf: 24%)

-level 25- Peer: /peer n/s/e/w/u/d.
You peer up. Same as /Spy.

Headshot: uses all stamina, has a level+weapon base damage/3 chance to kill instantly if hidden(sneak), level+weapon/4 if in the open. Accuracy is not effected by RF/enhance or any other spells.
When attacking monsters or bosses, headshot has the same effect as assassinate, but hit rate stays the same (lvl25, 25 base damage wep, 12.5% to land all stam of hits). Only works with bows/crossbows.

You missed -player-
-Player- tried to kill you, but missed.

You shot -player- in the head, killing them!
-Player- shot you in the head, killing you!

Armor
Uses theif armor.

Items unique to Bounty Hunter:
Traps
Can be set by Bounty Hunter, is set off on player when player comes onto the square. Does not effect Pacifists. Once Bounty Hunter leaves the square, the trap goes off (disapears). Can only set one trap at a time, one trap per square, can effect invis/camo/covert crits.

level 10: Wire Trap, max damage 30, bought in NightMist City.

Level 15: magic trap, max damage 15% of victim's max HP and MP(if magic user), bought in Resthaven.

Level 20: Poison Trap, max damage 40 +25% chance to poison for 25 points of damage per stam use of victim, bought in Arilin.

Level 25: Explosive Trap, Max damage 60, bought in Blackthorn.

Level 30: Stamina Trap, max damage 50, depletes the stamina of the victim, bought in Silversail.

Well, it's very interesting..and I really like it, but your missing a few things.
1. How much stamina each skill should take (for a few)
2. Need to put kinda how this class trains, and how much average damage it'll do with a weapon, i.e. fighters can do 20s with oakstaffs at higher lvls, but mages do 7 usually.
3. Hp gains based on con.
4. Introduction or story (background info and how this class has come to be).

Maybe there is more missing, I'm just pointing out what I can find.

1: Lasso and Peer would use one stam point each.

Traps would use one stam point to lay, cannot be laid with Bounty Hunter hidden, and the square would have to be clear of monsters and non party/non clan members.

2: They'd train mainly on irregular creatures (I.E., gnolls, trolls, orcs, ogres) rather than undead or magical creatures. They're set to where they can take down physical creatures/players, but have a hard time with magical players/creatures.

3: I'm guessing the HP gains would be similar to that of a ranger, I can't say for sure. Mainly because I don't have that much experience in training a wide variety of characters, due to RL circumstances as of the past few months, I'm not too keen on the different HP gains of the current classes. :/ Life and it's lemons.

4

Some things were never meant to be.
Following up the tragic death of Prince Edward, King Housmeld's anger overwhelmed him. Thinking with his emotions, he sent brigade after brigade to Arilin to monitor and cotrol the city, and stop any more potential civil outbreaks from occuring. For a time, this alone was effective, as Arilin's citizens were intimidated by the scores of armor clad soliders gaurding the city- their city. Arilin's more devoted citizens figured it was high time they stepped into action to drive the forgieners from their city gates.

Arilin recruited a team of rangers and theives to infiltrate the Harabec kingdom in secrecy, capture the King and force him to sign a declaration seperating Arilin from Harabec. If successful, they would be given twenty percent of all the taxes of the city as long as they lived, in addition to political power once Arilin was freed.
Upon arriving in Harabec, they were captured and thrown in the dungeon until the King called for them.

What they saw in the dungeon baffled them. They witnessed untold horrors lurking everywhere, ungodly creatures that were riddled with swordmarks arrow wounds, markings that would have clearly killed anything living. When they were brought before the King, they were not questioned, to their suprise, but told about how the Kingdom of Harabec had been quietly battling hordes of creatures threatening to take over nightmist as a whole, and ruin their way of life forever. The King also told them that he had spies working for him in various cities throughout the land, and Prince Edward was en route to share strategic plans with one.

What disturbed them even more was that these creatures had untold powers, and they were recruiting citizens in Arilin for their agenda. One of the people the King mentioned was the same one that recruited the team to begin with.
The King asked them to reconsider their mission and help protect the land from those that would try to ally it with those that would intentionally destroy it. For their troubles, he granted them ammnesty and paid them a large sum to bring the one that recruited them to swift justice. But by the time they reached Arilin, he had fled, along with an unknown amount of other conspiracists.

The theives used what they knew about sneaking and assassinations and taught the rangers, as the rangers taught the theives the fine art of archery, and together they became something more than what they were before. As time progressed, some abandoned hope and worked for hire, while others held fast to what they knew and trained anyone willing to learn the secrets of bounty hunting.

now i do believe there is something way cool to be done with a "bounty hunter" class. this, however, is not it. purely for the reason that there is no bounty hunting.

i'll take a stab at it when i get bored later.

Heh, I tried bounty hunting for a good bit with the druid class, but in the end it turns out that no one really takes a bounty on their head quite seriously. The most I've made off of bounty hunting is, what, 50k, give or take. Mind you, this isn't the price of one head, but a collective sum over time.

It's a good rush and a nice challenge, hunting a character that's more powerful than yours one on one.

I hate to trample upon your fragile bubble of childish hope... but it won't be implemented.

No offense, but duh. It's a good idea, good suggestion, but like 99.9% of all the other equally good and often better suggestions, they aren't implemented for a long long time or ever. This is more of a "what if...." board. I knew this when I thought everything out, the people who drop comments know this.

But thanks for the positive attitude and enthusiasm.

It doesn't matter if it gets impletemented or not, if it's a good idea it's always considered, usually in part.

There's a few very good ideas that might be included in the future.
If you build it, they will come.
