Someone basically demands me to play.. I tell em' "no!" and they give me the link anyways. I go to the site and I spent nearly a 1/2 hour trying to figure out how to d/l the thing. Coming to find out you have to BUY it. (Goes to prove I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, eh?) The person demands me to play it, although I'm still debating getting it. Good friends of mine play. I've never bought a PC game before. Tell me.. seriously, is CS really worth it? I don't want to go wasting money for nothing.

It's probably worth buying a retail copy of half-life, to get a cd-key. With that key you can play all the mods for it, including counter-strike and Lots of third party mods.

I got bored of cs years ago but still play team fortress and some third party ones.

Yeah I play. You don't actually have to pay for CS - you pay for half life. cs you can just download for free. But if your going to be buying a copy of HL for the cd key anyway, i'd suggest getting CZ instead. CZ is slightly better than CS, but it comes with both versions, so if you want to you can still play normal CS if you have some friends playing it. CZ also comes with pretty decent bots that you can practice against before going to play online so you don't look like a complete newb

Btw, does anyone know of any decent servers that only have the aim maps? aim maps are actually quite good fun and, suprisingly, they help your aiming. Not that I need it

i bought the platinum package, it came with halflife, opposing force, blue shift, counterstrike, and team fortress, i played counterstrike a lot for a while, but when i wiped out my computer i never got back around to reinstalling it. its pretty good though

Oh btw.. I wouldn't advise getting CS:S, coz if the beta is anything like the full version (and I would imagine that it is ) then it really isn't that great. I always had major lag on CS:S (ping of 150+, while I had a ping of 40-80 on cs) This could just be the beta but somehow they've managed to make it less fun than normal cs... imo anyway.

Mavalon and I used to play together in a clan, and i fell in love with him, and our clan broke apart because my love was too strong for him, lol.

Yeah anyways, i play sometimes my lag is really weird though sometimes random so i barely play anymore, until i get broadband anyway!

It's a good game. Steam won't work for me though so I can only use 1.5 with mates over the network or using podbot (sucky bot generation thing).

Several people have tried to help me get cs working on steam but oh well; I’ve learned to live with it.

there is a lot of the original maps for example facing worlds? you know the one where i OWN on the sniper and headshot the whole team in like 3 seconds , just re-shaped so the graphics look better, and morpheus is the same too, and there is better verions os facing worlds and stuff. But i don't know the new maps either i've only had Ut 2004 like 3 days. but ive got the headshot sorted,

counterstrike is awesome on the pc. i remember setting up a LAN in my own house and at my friends so we could do 6 man battle (3 at my house and 3 at his) we go off on each other for house, i like being the terrorists.
