I've been rolling for hours, had a real great Dwarf roll (Max Str/Dex/Con/16 Wis but only 6 chr.. didn't know if it mattered or not)

Crumbs... I never thought about that. Considering my first ever crit was a Human Paladin with 16 Constitution and 18 Dexterity...If it's your first crit, the stats you stated are fine. As you get to grips with the game, and understand what is happening. Then upgrade your character to one with overall better stats, or another race/class to suite your preference.
However, as a starting crit. That is fine.

So just assume the people asking for help are newer players, sure give them advise as to what stats are required, and that 6 stats are the best. However, the last thing you want to do when your new to a game is roll for 6 days to get something remotely uselful to play, you just wanna log on and get started.

Edit: Yeah Crane I can relate lol. My first was a Human Paladin (Got a screenshot of em'! ) - He was.. 19 str, 18 int, 18 dex, 17 con, 18 wis, 19 char. I was so proud of him
