This is a good point JLH. However, to the best of my knowledge, EVERYONE who has a high level mage says they need improving. So yeah try torturing pandilex with back-to-back star wars movies...or something...to make him fix mages
PS. Listen to whatever Eternyte says about mages, he always (imo) seems to know what he's talking about

You have a deluded view of being archmaster. There's a hell of a lot to do at archmaster.2. who really cares how much damage you can do to monsters when your arch? all you do is kill people and sit in the SGH when you arch ;P

Where is the SGH.JLH, you told me that mages were good because of the high damage they do at arch. Well
1. cost to much mana
2. who really cares how much damage you can do to monsters when your arch? all you do is kill people and sit in the SGH when you arch ;P

Don't forget those big-bad-pkers, but with the Pete instilation, and archs not being able to hurt 20 and below, I don't see much behind that, however I guess some would consider a pk record to be nice (before the pete deal.) Plus, I never really see 20+ crits south of NM, maybe pacis? But there is much better things to train on, like Gnolls. So, maybe if your lucky you can follow some lvl 20+ and get him in the gnolls, but then. Why not just sit in the fortress? Sorry, this is kinda just going on..and on. Just stating I guess previous/somewhat still withstanding advantages that some may see it as so. Other than that, Alone covered it all *as always *In all my time, I've only seen one advantage to sitting there. Pandilex drops/creates/does things involving 'questies'.. Something to do with lack or creativity or something? Well, it's what I've been told

Mana usage per beam spell, amout of damage beam deals varys entirely to greatly. And it seems that when they have 21 dex, they don't dodge nearly as much as a ranger or fighter w ith 21 dex.
maybe i'm being picky?
