First of all let me say that I completely support the idea for adding new 1 - alt only classes to the game. I'm pretty sure there will be a large array of players that would love to play a single character without the use of alts - and I feel adding classes like the pacifist is an excellent opportunity to progress the nightmist community as well as providing new challenges to those of us who have well and truley completed the current game.
Now comes the point to my post...
I've noticed since pacifists were released that alot of you have been writing up ideas and descriptions in a number of well thought out and lengthy posts for several new single alt classes.
Although I would love to see more of them in the game, I am unsure whether admin will agree. Basically i'm asking them to express their opinions on the matter and to shed light on the subject..
If the admin do not want more 1 alt classes in the game then your all basically wasting your time. My point is that to develop a new class to the game, it would require a sound knowledge of the game itself, but also of the code. Once you consider that you must also work out all the possible outcomes to each of the characters abilities - will this spell make the class too overpowered against mages?
Will it leech too much hp off this class? Would giving it this spell mean it could avoid this part of the area, even though it needs to explore it? etc etc.
Now there are hundreds of those things to consider, and to experiment with each one would take a long long time.
My point is that unless the admin ask for the players to come up with a new class idea, then it is very unlikely that an idea written on the boards (no matter the approval from players) will be taken forward for development, purely because of what was mentioned above.
Could your time be taken up thinking of other less complicated improvements for nightmist - graphics for items/monster descriptions/item descriptions?

That's pretty much entirely correct.

a man goes to the doctor, lifts his arm, and says "doc, it hurts when i do this". the doctor examines him, looks at his arm, and says "then don't do that".
aren't pacifists bad enough? why more? they aren't even close to being accepted as thier intended roles. this is amazing because pacifists can only do a few things in the game, and yet somehow manage to do them in all the wrong ways. i can't begin to imagine the folly of introducing any more 1-alt classes with more complication. complication in this scenario includes "hitting stuff", and "hitting people". so unless the 1-alt class would be the equivalent of an unemployed citizen with no discernable skills or defenses then i can't imagine another 1-alt class doing anything other than screwing with the game more. i don't know how pan and jlh feel about thier class additions, but as far 1-alt goes, i seriously wouldn't expect another 1-alt class until nightmist officially becomes a comedy game (or an unofficial tragedy).

wouldn't it be funny if rich had registered this name first, and you were bickering with him?

That's partly what I was trying to get across - if pan and jlh do agree then these people who are writing the threads are completely wasting their time.
Personally I think more 1 alt classes could be introduced some time in the future, but it's not up to me.

well just imagine the equation to make a 1-crit competitive, and also, feature PvP ability. it's practically an impossibility.
it would have to be competitive right? elsewise, it would be pointless.
in order for it to be competitive it would have to be able to stand it's own against a 3-5 archmasters right? that's what we're at right now correct? 3-5 gets you around.
if it's able to stand it's own against 3-5, nightmist players would merely apply the same principle to this class as they would against any strong foe: more power. maybe the equation would be 8 crits = dead in 5 seconds. dead in 5 seconds is an attainable goal.
so competitiveness is may be impossible; a 1-alt class has very defined limitations, until they party, at which point thier competitiveness would become what? the next point.
if you make a class that's competitive against multiple alts then it's pure slaughter against single crits and crits at lower lvls. if a 1-alt class has to be as competitive as 3 or more regular crits that could make it an even worse scenario at lower levels where defenses are not well honed at all. that kind of balancing at higher levels would be a severe avantage at lower levels and we love to coddle our newbs right? (because i still can't pk under 10 levels from me).
the only way to implement a 1-alt class would be to restrict them to interacting with themselves, at which point i have to wonder "why", and "how" (because restricted interaction wasn't successfully implemented last time). i know this is a hypothetical situation but i believe it's well reasoned, based on the idea that in order for a 1-alt class to be worthwhile it must be competitive while being solo. there's just no way to balance 1-crit against a varying (and gradually increasing) number of constantly played alts, and be fair to the solo class' limitations, players who use less alts, and anyone else who would invariably be affected by the class' use of every area in game that wasn't designed with them in mind.

I guess people that make up these posts on 1-alt crits are trying despreatly to make nightmist more like Rev

No, they're trying to keep Nightmist from becoming a RTS.

A RTS is a real time strategy. Starcraft, Warcraft, Age of Empires, Command and Conquer... you know.

Thankyou Ste. Consider this our reasoning why basically no staff post on class threads or race threads for that matter.
We'll douse ourselves in gasoline and hang our bodies from the lampposts.
